This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in procurement, governance, or commercial services. You will play a key role in supporting procurement activities, maintaining systems and records, undertaking research and analysis, and helping ensure procurement processes comply with current legislation and Council requirements.

Working closely with procurement colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation, you will contribute to delivering procurement projects that support service improvement and provide value for residents.

  • Supporting the delivery of low-value, low-risk procurement exercises, including quotation and further competition processes.
  • Publishing procurement notices in line with Procurement Act 2023 requirements and legislative timescales.
  • Analysing spend and procurement data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Producing procurement reports and management information to support decision-making.
  • Maintaining procurement systems, contract registers and document repositories to ensure accurate records.
  • Supporting supplier engagement activities and procurement compliance checks.
  • Managing procurement inboxes, responding to enquiries and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Taking minutes and maintaining records of procurement meetings, evaluation panels and governance discussions.

About You You will be highly organised, detail-oriented and keen to develop your knowledge and experience in procurement within a dynamic local government environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience providing administrative, business support or coordination services within a professional environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records, systems or databases.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, numerical data and reporting information.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Awareness of public sector procurement legislation and processes.
  • Experience supporting procurement or purchasing activities.
  • Experience using procurement, finance or contract management systems.
  • Experience working within local government or another regulated public sector environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Mathematics (or equivalent).

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a modern and developing procurement function.
  • Gain valuable experience across a wide range of procurement activities and projects.
  • Work with supportive and knowledgeable procurement professionals.
  • Access learning and development opportunities to build a long-term career in procurement and commercial services.
  • Contribute to delivering value, innovation and improved outcomes for local communities.

Please note: Training and development opportunities, including support towards professional procurement qualifications, may be available for the successful candidate.
