What they need

As a Procurement Technology Category Manager, you’ll play a critical role in driving value and managing risk across Rocket’s technology spend. You’ll own sourcing, vendor relationships, and category strategy for software, hardware, and technology-related professional services. You’ll partner with IT, Engineering, Security, and the business to get the best value, terms, and risk posture. This individual contributor role is built for a procurement pro ready to take on greater ownership. You’ll balance day-to-day execution with strategic thinking and grow into more complex negotiations and deeper category ownership over time.

About The Role

  • Manage day-to-day sourcing for your assigned portion of the technology category, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations.
  • Partner with IT, Security, Engineering, and business units to understand technology needs and turn them into clear sourcing requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and service levels with technology vendors, with senior category leadership alongside you on complex or high-risk deals.
  • Track and manage a pipeline of open requisitions and contracts, keeping them moving through approval, negotiation, and execution.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking to support pricing and vendor selection decisions.
  • Support vendor performance reviews and renewal planning, and identify cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities within your category.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policy, sourcing procedures, and contract standards, and keep accurate documentation of sourcing decisions, contract terms, and vendor communications.

About You Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement, category management, sourcing, or vendor management, with exposure to technology categories such as software, hardware, or IT services
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate pricing, terms, and total cost of ownership
  • Working knowledge of requisition-to-PO, sourcing events, and contract lifecycle management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with comfort working across technical and non-technical teams
  • Proficiency with procurement or ERP systems such as Workday, SAP Ariba, Coupa, or similar platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with technology spend categories such as SaaS licensing, cloud services, hardware, and IT professional services
  • Exposure to software licensing models and basic data security and privacy contract terms
  • Experience supporting or participating in RFPs for technology vendors
