Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Produce Buyer to join our purchasing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing fresh produce to ensure the highest quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency. Your expertise in supply chain management, vendor relationships, and inventory control will drive the success of our produce department. Duties

• Execute sourcing strategies for fresh produce by analyzing market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities.
• Negotiate pricing with vendors to secure the best value while maintaining quality standards.
• Maintain strong grower, supplier, and broker relationships through regular communication and resolving issues promptly.
• Assist with purchase orders and receiving.
• Monitor inventory levels while working closely with the sales and warehouse teams.
• Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate delivery schedules and ensure timely receipt of produce shipments.
• Inspect incoming produce for quality and implement improvements for efficiency.
• Excellent vendor communication skills with a track record of successful vendor negotiation and relationship management.
• Strong negotiation skills combined with a proactive approach to sourcing and purchasing challenges.

Qualifications

• Produce, purchasing, food distribution, or inventory experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable working with numbers and pricing
• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
