Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the produce department team, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing work environment
• Manage inventory levels through effective purchasing, stock rotation, and stock replenishment to minimize waste and maximize sales
• Ensure all produce items meet quality standards by inspecting deliveries, monitoring freshness, and maintaining proper storage procedures
• Implement merchandising strategies to create attractive displays that enhance product visibility and drive sales
• Oversee daily store operations including cash handling, POS system management, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards
• Collaborate with suppliers during purchasing negotiations to secure the best prices and product quality
• Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory control, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and budget adherence

Skills

• Proven management experience within retail or grocery environments, particularly in produce or perishables departments
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members effectively
• Excellent communication skills for training staff, managing customer interactions, and coordinating with vendors
• Proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, and basic bookkeeping practices
• Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail in stock control and merchandising
• Ability to perform basic math calculations related to pricing, sales analysis, and inventory tracking
• Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively
• Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing purchasing processes
• Knowledge of retail industry sales techniques and customer service excellence principles
• Familiarity with operational management tasks such as shift scheduling, cash handling, and safety protocols
