Produce Team Member

Job Summary

The Produce Team Member is responsible for receiving, stocking, organizing, and maintaining the fresh fruit and vegetable section. This role focuses on keeping displays full, attractive, and fresh while performing heavy physical work, including hauling pallets and stacks, especially during closing shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Haul pallets and stacks of produce (boxes, crates, and bulk items) from the backroom or receiving area to the sales floor, particularly during closing and end-of-day tasks.
• Stock, rotate, and organize fruit and vegetable displays to keep them full, neat, and appealing.
• Inspect produce for quality, remove damaged or spoiled items, and ensure proper rotation (first-in, first-out).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the produce department, including wiping down shelves, sweeping, and keeping the area safe and customer-ready.
• Assist with breaking down empty pallets, stacking boxes, and preparing the department for the next day during closing.
• Help customers locate items and answer basic questions about produce.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Produce Lead or Store Manager.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull pallets, stacks, and boxes weighing up to 50+ lbs.
• Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing ladders or step stools for the majority of the shift.
• Comfortable working in a refrigerated or temperature-variable environment.

Qualifications

• Reliable and punctual, with willingness to work closing shifts.
• Basic knowledge of produce preferred but not required (training provided).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to keep displays neat and organized.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

• Fast-paced retail environment with frequent physical labor.
• Evening/closing shifts required.
• Exposure to cold temperatures, wet floors, and varying produce weights.

This role is ideal for someone who doesn’t mind physical work, takes pride in keeping the produce section looking fresh and organized, and can handle the demands of closing the department each night

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
