Product Compliance Engineer - R&D

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Power Product Compliance Engineer to join our R&D team. You will be the technical authority on product safety for our power supply and energy storage lines — embedded with R&D engineers across the development lifecycle and the primary liaison with safety certification agencies and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Ownership & Product Lifecycle

• Take full end-to-end ownership of the compliance process for power supplies, power shelves, and energy storage systems — from initial product concept and design review through certification and market release, with no compliance gaps across the portfolio.

• Act as the primary compliance driver for each product program, proactively setting compliance milestones, tracking progress, and removing blockers to ensure on-time certification delivery.

• Manage and fulfill customer-specific compliance requirements, including additional certifications, test reports, declarations, or regulatory documentation requested beyond standard certification scope.

  Certification & Testing Management

• Plan and manage product safety and EMC testing to applicable international and regional standards, including:

• Power Supply & Power Electronics: IEC/UL 62368-1, UL 60950-1 (legacy products), NFPA 70 (NEC), UL 857

• Energy Storage Systems (ESS): UL 1973, UL/IEC 62368-1, IEC 62133-2, IEC 62619, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NFPA 855

• Components & Interconnects: UL 810 series, IEC 60384 series, IEC 62813, UL 1977

• IT & Data Center Equipment: NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 645, NFPA 75

• Coordinate with safety agencies and the Safety Regulatory Team to secure certifications on schedule, and own the preparation, review, and upkeep of all agency-requested documents and applications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the R&D Design Team to review schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical constructions, flagging compliance risks and guiding fixes early.
• Act as the bridge between R&D Design Engineers and safety agencies — translating and clarifying safety agency requests to design engineers and clearly explaining product details and design intent to safety agencies, keeping all parties aligned so certification completes on time, and integrating compliance checkpoints with the Quality and Safety Regulatory Teams.

Regulatory Intelligence & Customer Support

• Monitor evolving regulatory requirements in target markets (US, EU, China, Japan), assess the impact of standards updates on current and in-development products, and communicate the resulting requirements to R&D.

• Serve as the internal compliance expert for customer inquiries, and maintain compliance trackers so certificates, licenses, and filings stay current.

  Technical Safety Engineering & Post-Certification

• Provide safety design guidance from concept through production — component selection, creepage and clearance, insulation coordination, protective earthing, and thermal/fault analysis.

• Conduct and document risk assessments, hazard analyses, and abnormal/single-fault testing, and maintain Critical Component Lists (CCL), construction data forms (CDF), and technical construction files (TCF).

• Support follow-up and factory surveillance inspections, investigate field safety incidents through root cause analysis and CAPA, and deliver internal safety training to R&D, quality, and manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of product safety engineering experience in power electronics — power supplies (AC/DC, DC/DC), UPS, inverters, chargers, or energy storage systems (BESS).
• In-depth knowledge of power electronics safety standards: IEC/UL 62368-1, IEC/UL 60335-1, IEC/EN 61558, and IEC/UL 62109-1/-2 (PV inverters).
• Hands-on experience with ESS and battery standards: UL 1973, UL 9540/9540A, IEC 62619, IEC 63056, and UN 38.3.
• Familiarity with EMC and regulatory frameworks: CE (LVD, EMC, RED), FCC, UKCA, and regional approvals (PSE, KC, CCC, BIS, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience leading product certifications through UL, TÜV, CSA, Intertek, or equivalent NRTLs/CBs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, transformer/magnetics specifications, and mechanical drawings.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with Thai proficiency preferred; able to interface professionally with agencies, customers, and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for agency witness testing, factory surveillance audits, and customer visits.
