Product Design Engineer

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

Create and develop mechanical systems, components, and subassemblies for e-machines.

ROLE

Create mechanical designs for automotive components and systems, from concept to production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work on mechanical design aspects of automotive components, with a high level of drafting and 3D CAD modelling skills using Unigraphics NX CAD software.
2. Design plastic, sheet metal, casting and machined parts.
3. Apply a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
4. Apply sound understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes of various components and engineering materials.
5. Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, and support design teams.
6. Prototyping - support the creation and testing of prototypes for design validation.
7. Report progress of all assigned tasks to the Reporting Manager.
8. Create BOMs in SAP and Windchill.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Machine Design.

EXPERIENCE

Around 2-5 years of working experience in Automotive Product Design.

DESIRED FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

1. Good at 2D/3D work (modelling, assembly and drafting) in Unigraphics CAD software, and the Windchill system for BOM creation.
2. Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
3. Proactive approach and good communication skills.
