Product Development Manager (橡胶/硅胶类领域)

As Product Development Manager for REHAU Waste Water Treatment Business Unit China, this role will be mainly responsible for new product development, optimization base on market feedback, inputs, project requirements from Product Management team. the details of responsibility as following:

1. Product Development & Technical Decision-Making

• Lead new product development and the technical optimization of existing products, based on market feedback, project inputs, and requirements from Product Management and other internal stakeholders.
• Establish technical concepts and define product technical specifications, as well as key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Select and qualify the most suitable polymeric materials (e.g., silicone rubber, TPU, EPDM, or modified/compounded systems) for specific application scenarios, ensuring an optimal balance between performance, cost-effectiveness, and processability.
• Direct product calculation, mechanical simulation, and cost modeling, or coordinate with third parties for product pricing and cost estimation.

2. Tooling, Gauge & Process Development Coordination

• Determine required manufacturing process routes (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, liquid silicone injection molding) and critical production equipment, while assessing and justifying associated capital investment costs.
• Coordinate the definition of tooling, gauge, and fixture requirements, lead technical reviews, and manage related cost budgets and controls.

3. Testing Standards & Regulatory Compliance

• Define and clarify applicable testing specifications, legal frameworks, and environmental/chemical regulations ensuring full product lifecycle compliance.

4. Program & Technical Partnership Management

• Oversee and coordinate technical resources from both internal teams and external partners (e.g., tooling suppliers, material vendors, universities/research institutes), driving in-house technical breakthroughs and fostering collaborative innovation.
• Lead the new product transfer process (NPI), ensuring smooth handover of articles and associated tooling to manufacturing sites.

5. Continuous Improvement & Problem Resolution

• Drive continuous improvement of existing product lines and systems with respect to both technical and commercial competitiveness (e.g., VAVE initiatives).
• Support plant operations on design changes, customer complaint investigations, and process deviations — providing root-cause analysis and robust technical countermeasures.

6. Technical Documentation & Innovation Exploration

• Prepare and maintain necessary technical documentation, application guidelines, and product portfolio literature.
• Proactively monitor industry technology trends, participate in pre-development research and innovation concept proposals, and provide technical inputs for the company's product roadmap.

Qualification Requirements:

EDUCATION

• A Polymer Material / Chemical Engineering Maser Degree is preferred

EXPERIENCE

• 5-10 years relevant experience in Rubber/ plastics / silicone area;
• 2 years + experience in a managerial Position.
• Experience in wastewater treatment preferred

Technical Expertise:

• Solid understanding of polymer physics and chemistry fundamentals; deep knowledge of the structure-property-processing relationships of elastomeric materials such as silicone rubber, TPU, EPDM, and their compounding/modification systems (e.g., crosslinking mechanisms, glass transition behavior, rheology).
• Proficient in at least one major molding/forming process (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, liquid silicone injection molding — LSR), and familiar with how key process parameters affect final product performance.
• Knowledge of common product testing standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, DIN) and global regulatory frameworks are required.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Excellent project management skill.
