What they need

Do you enjoy developing assays, solving complex laboratory problems and turning experimental results into reliable diagnostic products?

Kleboe Jardine is recruiting a Product Development Scientist for an established diagnostics business in Midlothian.

This is a hands-on role for a scientist with assay development and optimisation experience who enjoys working in a regulated laboratory environment. You’ll contribute to product design and development projects, plan and carry out experimental studies, interpret results and help resolve technical challenges.

Working closely with senior scientists and colleagues across the business, you’ll help deliver projects to agreed timelines while maintaining high standards of scientific work and documentation. The role also offers scope to support the supervision and training of colleagues.

The work will include:

  • Planning and undertaking product development studies and investigations.
  • Developing and optimising assays, analysing data and drawing sound scientific conclusions.
  • Recording and reporting experimental outcomes to meet design control requirements.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation to support regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting colleagues’ development and ensuring the safe operation of laboratory equipment.

We’re looking for:

  • A science degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience in a regulated laboratory environment, such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
  • Assay development and optimisation experience.
  • Strong experimental recording, reporting and data interpretation skills.
  • A practical approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail.

You’ll also need to communicate well across disciplines, take ownership of your work and manage competing priorities. An enquiring mind and a willingness to contribute ideas will be valuable.
