Product Engineer

About the role

The Product Engineer role is responsible for developing and improving the performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability of laser devices throughout their lifecycle. This role partners with cross-functional teams to support product development, new product introductions (NPI), resolve technical product issues, optimize manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvements to meet customer needs. The role serves as the technical owner of assigned products, ensuring stable production, high yield, and successful product transitions from development to high volume manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the product lifecycle by supporting product development, new product introduction (NPI), production ramp-up, sustaining engineering, and product changes throughout the product lifecycle
• Drive product performance by monitoring product yield, quality, and manufacturing performance, and implement improvements to meet business and customer requirements
• Ensure product compliance by supporting product qualification, engineering change management, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards
• Resolve technical issues by leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for product and customer issues to ensure stable and efficient production
• Optimize manufacturing processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, increase yields, and implement continuous improvement initiatives

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Physics or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of laser devices, product lifecycle management, manufacturing processes, and new product introduction (NPI)
• Proficient in statistical analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA, DOE, and yield improvement methodologies
• Experience in product qualification, performance characterization and failure analysis
• Ability to drive yield enhancement, cost reduction, process optimization, and engineering change implementation using Lean manufacturing principles
• Effective in working with R&D, Process, Equipment, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
