Product Engineer

About the role

Support business and departmental targets through product planning, process development, technical-document control and shop-floor problem-solving. Ensure products meet customer technical requirements and are delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quotations for new products and validate costs arising from engineering changes
• Interpret drawings, specifications and customer requirements; develop machining process plans; design and follow up tooling and fixtures; and prepare controlled process documentation
• Initiate and manage Engineering Change Notice (ECN) activities and coordinate implementation of product technical changes
• Prepare and maintain customer-required PPAP documents, including PFMEA and Control Plans, and identify and control critical dimensions and special processes
• Improve existing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste and enhance product quality
• Prepare controlled tool lists, process models, special tooling and machining programs. Support manufacturing risk assessment and lead root-cause analysis and resolution of shop-floor technical problems
• Organize and archive technical records and control the product's technical configuration throughout its lifecycle
• Provide technical guidance to production personnel and technical support to external suppliers
• Participate in relevant company projects and complete other duties assigned by management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in precision metal-part machining
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software such as AutoCAD, UG/NX or CATIA
• Familiar with ISO/AS quality systems, APQP, PFMEA, DFM, DOE, 5-Why and fishbone analysis
• Knowledge of metal-cutting characteristics, tooling and cutting parameters for materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, titanium or high-temperature alloys
• Familiar with FANUC, HEIDENHAIN or SIEMENS controls
• Strong command of GD&T, tolerance-stack analysis and Maximum Material Condition principles, with sound knowledge of machining, metrology, heat treatment, welding, NDT and surface treatment
• Experience in aerospace, medical, semiconductor, tooling or automotive-component manufacturing is preferred
