Product Engineer

Creata is looking for a Product Engineer to join our fun and exciting team located in our offices in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. At Creata, we are serious about fun. We design and manufacture toys and consumer products that are distributed around the globe.

A Product Engineer will work with a cross-functional team to develop toys and consumer products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for toys and experience in project management, design, injection molding, manufacturing, assembly, and costing.

This is a hybrid position (remote and in-person engineering).

Responsibilities

· Lead projects and guide a cross-functional team from concept through delivery.

· Be organized, work methodically.

· Create project timelines.

· Monitor timelines to ensure that work occurs on time.

· Create a work breakdown structure for each job.

· Create a bill of materials and client specifications as required for each design.

· Product costing and cost reduction.

· Evaluate tariffs and production locations strategically.

· Collaborate with manufacturing resources in China to ensure accurate costing and manufacturability of each product.

· Work with manufacturing resources in China and Latin America for production of toys and consumer products.

· Partner with creative and safety teams to ensure that products are fun and safe.

· Work with model shops and extended Creata teams in China to ensure that designs function properly and meet aesthetic requirements.

· Manage logistics for several clients and report directly to clients.

· Collaborate with clients and licensors to ensure alignment and approval of products.

· Continuous improvement – creating better processes and techniques, storing information for future programs.

· Lead plan teams call with internal teams and factories

Skills

· 0-5 years in engineering role.

· BS mechanical engineering or similar degree/experience.

· Project management experience. PMP preferred.

· Experience with Excel.

· Experience with logistics preferred.

· Some 3-D CAD experience is preferred.

· Experience with 3D printing is a plus.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Team facilitator and collaborator.

· Innovative, optimistic and relentless in solving issues on designs, timelines, budgets, etc.

· Persuasive and diplomatic.

· Thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
