Product Engineer - Homologation

About the Role

BYD THAILAND is looking for a Product Engineer - Homologation (Sales Division) to manage vehicle homologation, certification, and regulatory activities in Thailand. This role will coordinate with regulatory authorities, accredited laboratories, overseas R&D teams, and internal departments to ensure vehicles meet Thai regulatory and approval requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop model and variant approval plans and timelines for motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles, including PHEV and BEV where applicable.
• Lead DLT type approval and registration readiness, including vehicle classification, technical document preparation, inspection, testing, submission, and follow-up.
• Identify applicable TISI requirements for vehicles, batteries, and regulated components.
• Coordinate licenses, factory audits, testing, Conformity of Production (COP), retesting, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate test plans and technical evidence with accredited laboratories and overseas R&D teams.
• Maintain certificates, test reports, approved specifications, VIN and variant data, authority correspondence, expiry dates, and regulatory records.
• Lead Thailand motorcycle approval activities, including motorcycle-specific DLT requirements, TISI standards, and OIE motorcycle ECO Sticker processes.
• Coordinate with Excise and Finance teams regarding vehicle classification, technical documentation, and applicable tax or EV measures.
• Assess regulatory requirements for electric motorcycle battery systems, charging interfaces, safety, emissions, and noise where applicable.
• Support local assembly and production readiness by tracking approval changes between imported, pilot, and SOP vehicles.
• Coordinate with Customs, Excise, and OIE teams regarding local content, import or CKD classification, and production commitments.
• Maintain launch risk trackers, monitor regulatory gaps, and coordinate mitigation actions.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 3–5 years of experience in vehicle homologation, regulatory affairs, certification, or automotive product engineering in Thailand.
• Direct motorcycle experience is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DLT processes and TISI approvals.
• Good understanding of Thai homologation regulations, standards, and processes.
• Ability to understand technical drawings, test reports, vehicle specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with OIE ECO Sticker and Excise submissions is an advantage.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Good problem-solving and project coordination skills.
• Good command of Thai and English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
