Product Innovation Engineer – Surgical Sharps & Precision Medical Devices (Northeast USA)

A well-established medical device contract manufacturer with vertically integrated manufacturing and in-house design and engineering is seeking an experienced Product Innovation Engineer to lead the development of surgical blades, needles, cannulas and other precision sharps.

This is a Northeast-based role, with relocation options available.

This is a customer-facing engineering position, ideal for someone who enjoys taking products from concept to commercialisation and acting as the technical bridge between OEM customers, manufacturing partners and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary technical resource for OEM customers, strategic accounts and contract manufacturing partners
• Support quoting, feasibility assessments and prototyping for new programmes
• Turn customer requirements into clear engineering specifications
• Lead development of surgical blades, needles, cannulas, trocars and other precision sharps
• Provide expertise in stainless steels, heat treatment, grinding and edge formation
• Develop processes including laser cutting, stamping, electropolishing and coatings
• Lead injection, insert and overmoulding development
• Work with product development, manufacturing and operations teams to support design reviews, supplier audits and customer visits

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with surgical blades, needles, cannulas, trocars, ophthalmic blades or specialty cutting instruments
• A background supporting OEM medical device customers and contract manufacturing organisations
• Proven success taking products from concept through to commercialisation
• Based onsite in the Northeast US, with relocation options available.
