What they need

Who you are

  • The Enterprise/Product Balance: A proven track record in B2B product management (ideally enterprise software). You understand the delicate balance between pushing a visionary product roadmap and delivering on critical, heavy-lift client commitments. (While we anticipate this usually takes 3 to 5 years of experience, we care far more about your actual impact, high agency, and capability than a strict number of years on your CV)
  • Structured Thinking: Attention to detail and thinking in systems, both are vital for managing complex, high-volume, business-critical products and large-scale migrations in a dynamic environment
  • Strategic Prioritisation: A history of confidently managing competing demands. You recognise what needs to be done immediately to achieve our goals and have the autonomy to say "no" to distractions
  • Tenacity and a "Just Do It" Attitude: You don't give up at the first hurdle. You are willing to dive deep, get your hands dirty, and push through blockers and failures to deliver real impact. For example, if a complex issue arises, you familiarise with the relevant domain, find a way to collect associated data, troubleshoot, and liaise with relevant parties throughout
  • Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to interact seamlessly with people of varying technical backgrounds. You are a great listener who can spot and harness fantastic ideas from anywhere inside and outside of the business. You understand that leveraging AI and scaling complex systems for large enterprises increases the need for exceptional, structured documentation to guide engineering and ensure system integrity
  • Industry experience: Previous experience in the water industry or other utilities is a bonus, but not a requirement
  • Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we’re looking for

What the job involves

  • We’re currently providing licences of our platform to serve the water and broadband industries and have created a new team - Kraken Utilities. Over the last year, we have built this team from scratch to re-architect, design, and develop our Kraken software platform to solve complex industry-wide problems within these sectors (such as transforming customer experience & water leak detection software)
  • The Kraken Utilities team is in a very exciting growth phase. We are currently 100+ people (engineers, product, implementation, design, strategy) supported by the 1500+ people in the wider Kraken world
  • This role will join as a Product Manager focused specifically on the water industry—working in a tight-knit team and collaborating closely with our engineering, implementation, and strategy groups
  • Proactive Discovery: Act as a product-led PM. You won't just manage a backlog; you will proactively drive discovery, identify underlying customer problems, and figure out how to scale and grow your products to deliver massive value
  • Rigorous Delivery & Migrations: Balance your product vision with the realities of enterprise software. You will help steer significant migrations onto the Kraken platform, ensuring high-stakes, highly complex projects are delivered methodically and successfully for our clients
  • End-to-End Autonomy: You will be handed high-level business goals, not step-by-step instructions. You are expected to autonomously navigate ambiguity, prioritise your team's work, and drive solutions from initial inception to a successful rollout
  • Data-Driven Impact: Leverage data rigorously to spot new product opportunities and actively measure the impact of what your team delivers. You ensure we are building for measurable outcomes, not just shipping features
  • Embrace New Technologies: You naturally integrate modern tools (including AI) to accelerate your work and explore how new technologies can enhance our product
  • Support the Frontline: Partner with customer teams working on front-line support to quickly triage operational issues, using these insights to continuously improve the platform

Benefits

  • Equity option scheme: Everyone who works at Kraken owns a part of the business with shares in the Octopus Energy Group. So as the company grows we all benefit
  • Pension scheme: We'll pay 5%. You decide on your contribution starting from 3%
  • Holidays: We don't count your holiday days. We trust everyone to work hard and take as much time off as they need
  • Flexible working: We're happy for you to work in a way that's best for you. Need to pick the kids up from school or work from home? That's not a problem. It's important to us that everyone has a positive work-life balance
  • Free breakfast: Our offices are always stocked with fresh fruit, breakfast, snacks, great coffee and soft drinks.

Weekly on a Friday we all get together (including virtually) for company updates and drinks

  • For parents: We can arrange access to tax free childcare, as well as maternity and paternity pay
  • Free eye tests: We offer eye test vouchers for all colleagues who use Visual Display Units (VDU). Long spells of VDU work can be visually demanding so we want to make sure you're OK
  • Car salary sacrifice: Save money on leasing an electric vehicle through our workplace salary sacrifice scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme: Spread the cost of buying a bike, including accessories and safety equipment, up to a value of £2.5K. And save money on the repayments through the cycle to work scheme
  • Get the right tech: Have a certain tech requirement? We’ll do our best to sort it for you
  • Money coach: Get support with financial planning through our partnership with Octopus Money Coach
  • Yoga + Headspace: Twice a week we have 45 Minute live yoga class open to all Kraken staff.

Need some calm in your life? We have Headspace licences available

  • Team events and activities: Participate in team events and cohesion activities to build stronger connections
  • Health Insurance: We’ll provide comprehensive coverage with Alan and access to Alan Mind.
  • Transportation: If you cycle to the office we’ll support you by up to €600/year, if you use public transport we'll reimburse 75% of your Navigo pass. If you use both, we'll support you by up to €900/year
  • Green energy discount: Enjoy a 32% discount on green energy compared to the regulated tariff
  • Year-end gift voucher: Receive a €100 gift voucher at the end of each year
  • Gymlib subscription: Get a subscription to Gymlib for access to a wide variety of fitness options
  • Meal vouchers: Enjoy €10 Ticket Restaurant cards for meal expenses
  • NGO support days: Benefit from three additional RTT days (Reduction of Working Time) to support NGO work, every year
