What they need
About the role
Own the development and continuous improvement of our AI-powered SaaS platform. As the bridge between our Malaysia-based business team and our development team in China, you will turn business goals and user needs into clear requirements, guide delivery, and ensure features deliver the intended user experience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can research products, challenge assumptions, identify gaps, and take ownership of product quality and completeness.
Key responsibilities
- Study users, workflows, competitors, and market needs to identify opportunities and recommend practical product improvements.
- Help shape the roadmap and prioritise features based on user value, business impact, technical feasibility, and development effort.
- Create product requirements documents (PRDs), user stories, workflows, functional specifications, and clear acceptance criteria; use wireframes or prototypes when helpful.
- Break features into manageable tasks, clarify business logic and edge cases before development, and maintain documentation and change records.
- Act as the primary product liaison, communicating requirements in English and Mandarin Chinese and leading regular development discussions and sprint reviews.
- Track dependencies and blockers, resolve misunderstandings, communicate scope changes, and escalate risks or delays with recommended actions.
- Plan and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT); validate features against requirements, intended workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify usability gaps and bugs, prioritise fixes with developers, confirm release readiness, and use post-release feedback to guide improvements.
- Maintain a prioritised backlog and report completed work, work in progress, upcoming priorities, delays, bugs, blockers, and decisions needed.
- Build a structured workflow from requirements and development through testing, release, and continuous improvement.
Requirement
- Based in Malaysia, with experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Product Executive, Business Analyst, Project Manager, or a similar technology role.
- Professional working proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese, including the ability to discuss software requirements and product specifications with a China-based development team.
- Experience working directly with software developers and translating business needs into structured product requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Experience in product research, competitor analysis, feature evaluation, and identifying user needs.
- A good understanding of software or SaaS product development and Agile/Scrum or similar delivery methods.
- Strong communication, organisation, and prioritisation skills; able to manage multiple features and align business and technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, including missing requirements, edge cases, and usability issues, with the confidence to work independently and own delivery.
- Experience with AI or generative AI products, SaaS platforms, CRM, marketing automation, social media tools, workflow automation, chatbots, AI agents, or SME-focused business software.
- Experience working with China-based software development teams and API integrations.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, GitHub, Figma, Notion, Trello, ClickUp, or equivalent product and project management tools.
