Product Manager

The opportunity
Calidus Group is partnering with one of Australia’s leading suppliers of PPE and industrial safety solutions to recruit a Product & Category Manager.

Following the acquisition of an established Australian safety footwear brand, the business is investing in its next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the product range and shape its future across Australia and New Zealand.

You’ll combine the influence and ownership of a dedicated brand role with the backing of a broader PPE business. Drawing on its established sales and marketing teams, supplier relationships and distribution network, you’ll have a strong platform to develop the range and bring new products to market.

The role
This is a broad, hands-on role combining product development, category strategy and commercial performance. You’ll manage the range from concept through to launch and ongoing improvement, ensuring products meet customer needs and deliver strong commercial outcomes.

You’ll be the go-to person for the product category, working closely with suppliers, manufacturing partners and the wider business to turn customer and market insights into practical range decisions.

Day to day:

• Developing the category plan and product roadmap, identifying gaps and growth opportunities
• Reviewing sales, margins, pricing and customer insights to improve range performance
• Leading new product development, including briefs, sampling, wear trials, testing and production readiness
• Managing supplier and manufacturer relationships across specifications, costing, quality and timelines
• Coordinating product launches with the wider sales and marketing teams
• Engaging with distributors and end users to understand their needs and validate product concepts

About you
You’ll be a commercially minded product or category professional who enjoys taking ownership and making things happen. You’re equally comfortable developing strategy, working through product detail and understanding what customers need.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Experience managing a physical product range through development, launch and ongoing performance
• Exposure to footwear, workwear, PPE or a related consumer or industrial product category
• Strong commercial judgement across sales, margins, pricing and inventory
• Experience working with suppliers or manufacturers on product development, costing and quality
• An understanding of product launches and how to equip sales teams for success

Knowledge of safety footwear standards, distributor channels or industrial end users will be highly regarded.
