What they need

deltaflare is the UK's specialist in Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) operators. We deliver NIS2 and CAF compliant protection across gas, electricity, water, renewable technology and transport networks — the systems that keep the country running.

We work where IT meets industrial reality: inside control rooms, substations and treatment works, helping CNI operators navigate the unique challenges of securing hyper-connected physical systems without disrupting the operations that millions of people depend on.

OUR MISSION

To enable the safe and cyber secure operation of hyper-connected industrial systems.

OUR VISION

A world where essential services can deliver digital transformation with confidence, built on a solid cyber-physical security foundation.

OUR VALUES

We innovate with purpose, focusing on solutions that can be adopted safely and at scale.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Product Solutions Engineer in deltaflare’s Product team, you’ll be the technical anchor between Product, Engineering, Assurance and our customers and partners. You’ll turn what we build into solutions that CNI operators, OEMs and MSPs can buy, deploy and rely on, and make it quick and repeatable for them to get onto phoenix, our SaaS platform for secure remote access, real-time monitoring and compliance reporting.

At the heart of the role, you’ll own how phoenix is packaged and released for customers. You’ll build and maintain a controlled, versioned set of standard deployment configurations, and own the technical release gate into Assurance. Once a release passes your gate, our Assurance team independently tests and approves it before it reaches customers. By owning the build, you’ll keep the product roadmap moving and give our customers a stable, repeatable platform.

You will report to the Head of Product and Enablement, based in Richmond with travel to customer and partner sites. You’ll take released software from Engineering, hand releases to Assurance, join Sales early in customer and partner conversations, help OEM and MSP partners deploy and support phoenix, and feed customer insight back to Product. You’ll work directly with the people who built phoenix and with some of the UK’s largest infrastructure operators.

This is an early-stage role on a fast-growing product. As our pre-sales, customer success and solutions functions grow, you’ll help shape how they work and set the standard for how phoenix is built, released and explained.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Your main accountabilities — what you will own and be responsible for delivering.

Own our standard deployment configurations

▸ Turn released software and infrastructure capabilities into controlled, customer-ready deployment configurations.

▸ Build and maintain versioned, parameterised configurations, offered as products.

▸ Design configurations that customers, OEMs and MSPs can reuse across their sites with minimal set-up.

▸ Build and troubleshoot containerised apps, including Docker Compose, startup dependencies, networking and resource limits.

▸ Maintain configurations across development, pre-production and customer environments.

▸ Keep customer-specific builds as the exception, agreed with the Head of Product and Enablement.

Own the release gate into Assurance

▸ Catch mismatched versions, missing parameters, risky app combinations, and settings that look valid but are wrong, such as a bad IP range or routing.

▸ Review test evidence and decide whether a release is ready to enter Assurance.

▸ Hold a release when configuration or evidence is incomplete, and explain why clearly.

▸ Treat the gate as a readiness check, never as a replacement for Assurance testing.

Run controlled change

▸ Manage tagged releases and Git-based reviews.

▸ Compare configurations between versions and environments.

▸ Write release notes, with an auditable reason for every change.

Be the technical voice with customers and partners

▸ Join discovery with CNI operators, OEMs and MSPs to understand their sites, assets and requirements.

▸ Design and cost solutions with the client, captured as a defined configuration with clear acceptance criteria.

▸ Help clients build the case for funding and plan their internal rollout.

▸ Bring technical input to quarterly business reviews that supports each customer’s success story.

▸ Get new customers, OEMs and MSPs onto phoenix quickly and repeatably, delivering training and working with Assurance at go-live.

▸ Train customer and partner teams during rollout so they can configure, deploy and run phoenix with confidence.

▸ Run demos that explain both what phoenix can do and its limitations.

▸ Feed customer insight back to Product to shape the roadmap.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

By the end of your first year, we’d expect:

Primary

▸ A controlled set of standard configurations covering our target markets, offered as products, with customer-specific builds the exception.

▸ New customers, OEMs and MSPs adopted from those configurations, without senior leaders needed in the early phases of the sale.

▸ Client solutions costed and designed with the client, captured as a defined configuration with acceptance criteria, with clients supported in securing funding or planning their rollout.

▸ Your technical input supporting each customer’s success story in quarterly business reviews.

Supporting

▸ Releases enter Assurance complete, with clear evidence and few returns.

▸ Fewer configuration-related defects found by Assurance or customers.

▸ Every change traceable through tagged releases, reviews and release notes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential — what you must bring on day one

▸ Around 5 years’ experience in OT software, commissioning or industrial networking.

▸ Around 2 years’ experience in cybersecurity.

▸ Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting containerised applications, particularly Docker Compose, startup dependencies, networking and resource limits.

▸ Experience assembling and maintaining versioned deployment templates or blueprints across development, pre-production and customer environments.

▸ Experience with change control: tagged releases, Git-based reviews, configuration comparisons, release notes and an auditable reason for each change.

▸ The ability to review test evidence and make a clear go or no-go decision on release readiness.

▸ The ability to turn customer requirements into a defined, costed configuration with acceptance criteria.

▸ Confidence in front of customers, explaining product capabilities and value in terms of their needs.

Desirable — not essential, but will help you stand out

▸ System-integrator workflows and factory acceptance testing (FAT) or site commissioning.

▸ Experience with edge deployments, OS agents, virtualisation or LTE-connected devices.

▸ Familiarity with V-model development, automated validation and configuration-diff tooling.

▸ Pre-sales or commercial-engineering experience, including discovery, demos and feeding customer requirements into a product roadmap.

▸ Experience working with or at an MSP or OEM, particularly on managed or multi-site deployments.

▸ Knowledge of CNI sectors or OT security standards such as IEC 62443 or NIS2.

Pay: £65,000.00-£80,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • London, Greater London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Application question(s):

  • Tell us about an OT or industrial environment you’ve worked in (e.g. substation, treatment works, control room, commissioning project). Briefly describe one customer or site requirement you turned into a defined technical solution. How did you scope it, set acceptance criteria and explain it to a non-specialist stakeholder, and what security considerations shaped your approach? (Max 250 words)
