PRODUCT SPECIALIST A/C COMPRESSOR

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role involves providing technical expertise on automotive A/C compressors, including product specifications, functions, applications, and operating principles. You will verify compressor compatibility with different vehicle makes, models, engine types, and manufacturing years, conduct cross-reference activities, diagnose automotive A/C system and compressor-related problems, investigate customer complaints and warranty claims, and work with Quality Assurance and Production teams to improve product reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Technical Expertise

·       Provide technical expertise on automotive A/C compressors, including product specifications, functions, applications, and operating principles.

·       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive A/C systems, compressor technologies, and aftermarket product developments.

·       Provide technical recommendations on compressor selection, installation, operation, and replacement.

Vehicle Compatibility and Product Application

·       Verify compressor compatibility with different vehicle makes, models, engine types, and manufacturing years.

·       Identify suitable compressor applications based on technical specifications, product references, and vehicle requirements.

·       Support the development and maintenance of accurate compressor application databases and product catalogues.

·       Investigate application discrepancies and recommend suitable solutions to prevent incorrect product selection.

Product Cross-Reference and Replacement

·       Conduct compressor cross-reference activities using original equipment (OE) numbers, aftermarket part numbers, and other relevant product references.

·       Identify suitable replacement compressors based on technical specifications, mounting configurations, connections, and performance requirements.

·       Verify product interchangeability before recommending alternative or replacement products.

·       Maintain accurate cross-reference records to support sales, customer service, and distribution activities.

Technical Troubleshooting and Failure Analysis

·       Diagnose automotive A/C system and compressor-related problems based on symptoms, technical information, and inspection findings.

·       Investigate compressor failures, including mechanical damage, abnormal noise, leakage, and performance issues.

·       Identify probable root causes and recommend appropriate corrective actions or technical solutions.

·       Provide technical guidance on installation, system cleanliness, lubrication, and other factors that may affect compressor performance.

·       Escalate complex technical issues to the relevant engineering or quality personnel when necessary.

Customer Complaints and Warranty Management

·       Investigate customer complaints and warranty claims involving automotive A/C compressors.

·       Review relevant technical information, product condition, installation details, and failure evidence to support warranty assessments.

·       Coordinate with Quality, Production, Sales, and other relevant departments to determine root causes and appropriate corrective actions.

·       Provide technical findings and recommendations for complaint resolution in accordance with company warranty policies.

Technical Support and Communication

·       Provide technical assistance to customers, distributors, workshops, sales personnel, and internal teams.

·       Respond to technical enquiries regarding compressor applications, compatibility, replacement options, and troubleshooting.

·       Prepare technical explanations, product information, and troubleshooting guidance as required.

·       Support product training and knowledge-sharing activities for customers and internal personnel.

Product Quality Improvement

·       Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and Production teams to investigate product defects and recurring compressor failures.

·       Provide technical feedback on product performance, application suitability, and field failure trends.

·       Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.

·       Recommend product, specification, or process improvements based on technical investigations and customer feedback.

About you

• Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field are preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in automotive A/C systems, compressors, HVAC, or automotive aftermarket products.
• Practical hands-on experience in automotive A/C repair, compressor diagnosis, or automotive parts sales is an advantage.

KEY TRAITS & COMPETENCIES:

• Good knowledge of automotive A/C systems and compressor operating principles.
• Ability to identify compressor types, vehicle applications, and suitable replacement products.
• Ability to troubleshoot compressor failures and automotive A/C system problems.
• Understanding of warranty investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, product catalogues, and part numbers.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and technical databases is an advantage.
