What they need
ABOUT https://www.google.com/url?q=http://FACILITYOPS.AI&source=gmail&ust=1792876368852000&sa=E
FacilityOps.AI builds wheeled inspection robots for data centers. Our robots inspect fiber, electrical, mechanical and fire systems, and they turn what they see into evidence that customers use for handover and live operations. Our customers include hyperscale builders and live data center operators.
THE ROLE
You turn each robot feature into something the team can build, the customer can use and sales can show. You write the spec for each feature, design its screens, check that what the engineers built matches the spec, and test each feature by hand before release. You also produce the videos that show our features to customers. This is not a coding role.
You report to the Engineering Manager and work every day with our robotics, perception and software engineers, and with the sales and management team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Technical specifications
Write a clear technical spec for every feature before engineering starts: purpose, inputs, outputs, behaviour, edge cases, limits and acceptance criteria.
Break each feature into tasks that an engineer can pick up and finish.
Keep specs current as scope, hardware and release dates change.
Write customer-facing feature descriptions in plain, controlled English (ASD-STE100 experience is a plus) for sales and management.
UI and screen design
Design the screens for each feature: operator dashboards, inspection findings, reports, the 3D twin view and robot control.
Produce wireframes, high-fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes in Figma.
Keep a consistent design system across the web app and reports.
Review the built screens against the design and fix gaps with the engineers.
Marketing videos
Produce short product videos and feature demos for sales, the website and trade shows.
Capture and edit footage of the robot working on site, and combine it with screen recordings, motion graphics and 3D renders.
Use AI video and animation tools where they save time, and keep every claim accurate to what the product does today.
Feature review
Review each finished feature with the engineer against its spec and acceptance criteria before it is accepted.
Send work back with clear, specific feedback when it does not match the spec.
Follow code changes at a basic level where you can (a plus, not required).
Manual feature testing
Write a test checklist for each feature from its spec: what to check, the expected result, pass or fail.
Test each feature by hand on the robot and in the app, in the lab and on site, the way a customer will use it.
Check that each feature works as intended, including edge cases and what happens when something goes wrong.
Log defects with clear steps to reproduce, plus screenshots or video, and track them until they are fixed.
Re-test earlier features before each release to check that nothing broke, and sign off each feature before release.
WHAT YOU BRING
2+ years in product management, business analysis, UX design, QA testing or a similar role.
Experience writing feature specs or requirements that engineers build from.
UI/UX skills with a portfolio of product screens (Figma).
Experience testing software or hardware products by hand and writing clear defect reports.
Video production and editing skills (for example Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut) with samples to show.
Clear, concise writing for both engineers and non-technical readers.
Comfortable with technical products: you learn quickly how a robot and its sensors work.
NICE TO HAVE
Ability to read code (for example Python or TypeScript) and follow a code change.
Experience with robotics, computer vision or sensor data.
Knowledge of data center infrastructure: fiber, power, cooling or fire systems.
Familiarity with standards such as NFPA 70B, NFPA 25 or ASHRAE.
Experience with 3D tools (Blender or similar) for renders.
HOW WE WILL MEASURE SUCCESS
Every feature in the release plan has an approved spec and screen design before engineering starts.
Every feature passes review and manual testing before release.
Fewer defects found by customers after each release.
Sales has a current demo video for every major feature.
