Production & Event Operations Assistant

We R Nuts NY, Inc. is a locally owned specialty food business known throughout Western New York for our fresh-roasted flavored nuts. We sell at the Broadway Market, farmers markets, fairs, festivals and special events throughout the region.

We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Production & Event Operations Assistant who can become an important part of our day-to-day operation.

This is not a sit-at-a-desk position. One day you may be helping produce and package nuts; another day you may be pulling inventory, loading our cargo van, setting up a festival booth or preparing equipment for the next event.

For the right person, there is an opportunity to learn multiple parts of the business and take on greater responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

Assist with production, packaging and labeling of our nut products

Prepare products and inventory for farmers markets, fairs and festivals

Load and unload company vehicles, equipment and inventory

Help set up and tear down tents, tables, displays, signs and event equipment

Organize and maintain event equipment and supplies

Assist with inventory counts and restocking

Follow packing lists and event preparation checklists

Drive company vehicles when needed and authorized

Assist at markets, fairs and festivals when needed

Learn our food-production procedures and equipment

Maintain clean, organized production and work areas

Help identify missing supplies or problems before they become last-minute emergencies

Work independently as responsibilities and experience increase

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized and comfortable doing physical work.

You should be the kind of person who can be given a checklist, understand what needs to happen and get the job done without needing constant supervision.

Required:

Valid driver's license

Dependable transportation to work

Ability to regularly lift and move up to 40–50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation

Ability to stand, walk, bend and perform physical work for extended periods

Weekend availability during our event season

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team

Reliable attendance and punctuality

Willingness to work in food production and event environments

Preferred, but not required:

Food production, kitchen or food-service experience

Warehouse, inventory or stocking experience

Event setup or festival experience

Experience driving a cargo van

Retail or point-of-sale experience

Experience using Square or similar POS systems

We are willing to train the right person. Reliability, common sense, organization and willingness to learn are more important to us than having a perfect résumé.

Schedule

Approximately 15–25 hours per week.

Hours vary depending on production needs and our event schedule. Additional hours may be available during busy farmers market, festival, fair and holiday seasons.

Weekend availability is required during event season.

Some early mornings and longer event days may be required.

Pay

$17.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience and capabilities.

Opportunities for increased responsibility are available as you learn the operation and demonstrate the ability to work independently.
