Production & Quality Control Engineer

Job Title: Head of Quality Control – Ready Mix Concrete (RMC)Position Overview
The Head of Quality Control (QC) is responsible for leading all quality assurance, product development, and technical compliance activities across the Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plant(s). This leadership role ensures that all raw materials, production processes, and delivered concrete products strictly meet customer specifications, standard codes (such as ASTM, ACI, IS, or EN standards), and internal profitability goals through mix optimization.

Key Responsibilities1. Concrete Mix Design & Optimization

• Develop, review, and optimize cost-effective concrete mix designs tailored to specific project specifications and performance requirements.
• Conduct and oversee trial mixes in the laboratory and at the plant to validate workability, setting time, and compressive/flexural strength.
• Implement statistical analysis and quality control charts to monitor strength variations and adjust mix designs dynamically

2. Production Oversight & Plant Quality Assurance

• Supervise the batching process to guarantee accurate material proportioning and adherence to approved mix designs.
• Establish and strictly enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the sampling and testing of fresh concrete (slump, air content, density, and temperature).
• Manage the tracking, casting, curing, and testing of concrete cubes/cylinders using automated or barcode systems.

3. Raw Material Inspection & Supplier Management

• Oversee the routine testing of incoming raw materials, including cement, aggregates, SCMs (fly ash, slag), water, and chemical admixtures.
• Approve or reject materials based on laboratory findings and endorse vendor qualifications.
• Coordinate with the loader operator and plant team to monitor aggregate moisture content and adjust batch water ratios in real-time

4. Equipment Calibration & Lab Management

• Ensure the plant laboratory is fully equipped and that testing machinery (e.g., Compressive Testing Machines, weighing balances) is calibrated regularly according to regulatory mandates.
• Maintain accurate digital and physical quality records, test reports, and calibration certificates (often managed via SAP or dedicated QC software).

5. Technical Support, Client Relations & Site Quality

• Address and troubleshoot product performance deviations, customer complaints, and warranty issues.
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams to provide technical guidance to clients and structural engineers regarding concrete placement, compaction, and curing.
• Investigate site-level issues, such as unauthorized water addition to transit mixers, to protect the company from liability.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Materials Science.
• Experience: Minimum 5 to 8+ years of hands-on quality control experience specifically within the Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) or building materials industry, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Certifications: ACI (American Concrete Institute) Field Testing / Laboratory Technician Level 1 & 2, or relevant regional certifications (e.g., NRMCA, regional standard board qualifications) are highly preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of concrete technology, chemical admixtures, mineral aggregates, and industry codes (ASTM, ACI, IS, or EN).

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
