What they need

Combine Engineering, Production Planning and Continuous Improvement

Evolution Precast is a leading precast concrete manufacturer delivering major infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and construction projects across NSW, QLD, and VIC. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking a capable and proactive Production Engineer to join our Hunter operations team.

This is a broad and varied role combining production engineering, scheduling, performance analysis, and continuous improvement. Working at the interface between Production, Projects, Engineering, and Quality, you will play a key role in ensuring our manufacturing teams have the information, planning, and technical support required to deliver safely, efficiently, on time, and to the required quality standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Engineer will take ownership of the master production schedule across our Hunter production facilities while providing hands-on engineering and continuous improvement support to our manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with Production Managers, Project Engineers, Quality, and other technical teams to ensure project requirements are effectively translated into manufacturing activities. This includes coordinating production priorities, reviewing engineering and IFC documentation, resolving technical issues, analysing operational performance, and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, labour utilisation, and production flow.

This is a true operational engineering role suited to someone who enjoys being close to production, solving problems, working with data, and implementing practical improvements that make manufacturing perform better.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, develop, and maintain the master production schedule across the Hunter production facilities.
  • Coordinate production sequencing, priorities, capacity, labour requirements, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Act as the key engineering liaison between Production, Project Engineers, Quality, and other technical functions.
  • Review drawings, IFC documentation, specifications, and technical information to identify and resolve manufacturing and buildability issues.
  • Provide practical engineering support to Production teams to minimise delays and improve manufacturing outcomes.
  • Analyse production performance, labour utilisation, cycle times, schedule adherence, quality, and other operational KPIs.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across production processes, workflows, tooling, plant utilisation, and manufacturing systems.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Work closely with Quality to reduce defects, non-conformances, rework, and recurring manufacturing issues.
  • Support production readiness for new projects, including methodologies, sequencing, capacity, tooling, and technical requirements.

About You

You are an engineer who enjoys being close to manufacturing operations rather than sitting behind a desk. You are analytical and technically capable, but equally comfortable working with production teams on the factory floor to understand problems and implement practical solutions.

You will bring a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem-solving capability, and the ability to connect engineering requirements with real-world manufacturing outcomes. You enjoy variety and want a role where you can directly influence productivity, quality, cost, and operational performance.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar operational engineering role.
  • Experience within manufacturing, precast concrete, construction materials, structural fabrication, heavy industry, or engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, manufacturing capacity, and workflow management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, IFC documentation, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience improving manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, or labour efficiency.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience using production data and KPIs to drive improvement.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across production, engineering, quality, and project teams.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP, production planning, reporting, or manufacturing systems highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Civil, Structural, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Process Improvement qualifications highly regarded.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Experience with CAD, engineering drawing systems, ERP, or production planning systems advantageous.

Why Join Evolution Precast?

  • Take on a broad engineering role with direct influence over manufacturing performance.
  • Own production scheduling while driving continuous improvement across the Hunter operations.
  • Work at the interface between Production, Projects, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Gain exposure to major infrastructure, commercial, and construction projects.
  • Join a growing manufacturing business where practical improvements can make a measurable difference.
  • Competitive salary package with excellent long-term career development opportunities.

If you are an engineer who enjoys solving manufacturing problems, improving processes, and working directly with production teams to deliver better outcomes, we would like to hear from you.

Apply now and join the Evolution Precast team.
