What they need

Put your Civil Engineering degree to work on the infrastructure that keeps New Zealand running.

Hynds Pipe Systems is one of New Zealand's leading infrastructure product manufacturers and a proudly family-owned Kiwi business. The precast components we produce end up in the water, stormwater and wastewater networks beneath towns and cities across the country. It's civil infrastructure - we just build it in a controlled factory environment instead of on a muddy site.

About the role

Based at our Pokeno facility and reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, this is a genuinely technical role for a civil or construction engineer who wants to apply their degree in a hands-on production setting. You'll own functional project planning from start-up to completion, drive continuous improvement, and make sure every product leaves the floor built right first time - to spec, every time.

If you've come through a civil degree and want engineering problems you can see, touch and solve daily - concrete mix design, cover, reinforcement, dimensional tolerances, structural finish - this is where that knowledge gets used.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end project planning and coordinate production to meet daily and weekly manufacturing schedules
  • Ensure product specifications and inspection & testing plans - concrete mix, cover, dimensions, reinforcement, finish - are strictly achieved
  • Engage in technical and engineering discussions with our Sales Engineers and Technical Service Engineering team
  • Eliminate hazards and manage critical risks by design, and champion a strong safety culture
  • Raise and close out non-conformance reports promptly, and drive improvement in QC/QA systems and BOM accuracy
  • Optimise labour and machine utilisation, and manage work centre costs against budget
  • Allocate and supervise work across teams, monitor output, downtime, waste and rework

What you'll bring

  • A Civil or Construction Engineering degree (or equivalent) - this is the foundation for the role
  • 3-5 years' experience in precast, manufacturing or a related production/engineering environment
  • A methodical, systematic approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Solid understanding of concrete, reinforcement and precast fundamentals (or the technical aptitude to get there fast)
  • Strong H&S compliance knowledge in a manufacturing or construction setting
  • Excellent communication, report-writing and MS Office skills
  • Full NZ driver's licence

Benefits

  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility criteria)
  • Access to company partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
