Overview

We are seeking a high aptitude and Production Engineer (IC2) to join the contractor program in supporting critical customer engagement. This role is ideal for someone with strong software engineering foundations, who also has ventured into infrastructure and is capable of working in OS modernizations, packaging migrations, and infrastructure hardening initiatives, while simultaneously executing hands-on runbooks, automation, and service onboarding.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SRE team, internal engineering teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• Professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience in Python.
• Enterprise OS modernization and large-scale packaging migrations (RHEL7 → EL8/9, Chef → CINC) experience.
• Capable of triaging, owning and resolving bugs from start to finish independently.
• Harden CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and rollout/rollback mechanisms specifically tailored for legacy-to-modern infrastructure transitions.
• Partner closely with SRE to provide "follow-the-sun" tier-2 support
• Onboard services to newly established monitoring and logging stacks, and handle hands-on incident response and break/fix operations on existing platforms.
• Automate repetitive operations and document technical procedures.

Useful Qualifications:

• Proven experience planning and executing logging and monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting the team during cloud cutovers and component migrations to cloud environments.
• Perl scripting experience

Scope and Solution Expectations:

The contractor will be responsible for driving the technical transition of legacy systems to modern environments. Key deliverables and operational tasks include:

• Developing and executing automated runbooks and building RPM packages to replace legacy configurations.
• Transitioning monitoring infrastructure to a modern stack (Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana) and managing Splunk integrations.
• Providing Tier-2 operational support and incident response under a follow-the-sun model.
• Assisting application developers with architectural support and troubleshooting during cloud migration phases.
