What they need
Job : Production Engineer – Manufacturing / Assembly Fitness and Sports Technology ( Setting up local assembly and QC for ITS Training Device )
Location: Ajman Free Zone, Ajman, UAE
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: 3+ years in production/manufacturing engineering
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reports to: Office & Compliance Manager
Why this role
We currently produce the ITS device in Poland and ship finished units. To serve the GCC market faster and more cost- effectively, we want to set up local assembly and quality control in the Ajman Free Zone. This role builds that capability from nothing — it is not an operator role for an existing line, it is the person who creates the line.
What the person will actually do
- Design and set up the physical assembly line (workstations, tooling, workflow) for the ITS device in the Ajman facility.
- Take the technical specifications and bill of materials (BOM) from the Poland engineering team and turn them into a working local assembly and QC process.
- Find, evaluate and onboard local/regional suppliers for components, packaging and consumables.
- Define quality-control checkpoints and testing so every unit meets KO Coach's build and performance standard before it ships.
- Plan production against the sales forecast and manage stock of work-in-progress and finished units.
- Recruit, train and supervise local assembly staff as volume grows.
- Track production cost and flag where the bill of materials or process can be optimized for the local market.
- Make sure the facility stays compliant with AFZA industrial/safety rules, and act as our point of contact with the free-zone authority on facility/licensing matters.
- Stay in close technical contact with the Poland production/R&D team so specification or engineering changes are reflected locally.
- Put together basic production documentation: work instructions, QC checklists, serial-number/traceability records.
Qualifications & experience to screen for
- Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Electronics Engineering.
- At least 3 years in production/manufacturing engineering, ideally in electronics, hardware, or precision mechanical assembly — not pure office-based process consulting.
- Has actually set up or substantially rebuilt an assembly line before — this is the single most important filter. Someone who has only operated within an existing, mature line is not the right fit.
- Practical, working knowledge of quality control (incoming inspection, in-process checks, final testing). ISO 9001 exposure is a plus, not a requirement.
- Has sourced and qualified suppliers/vendors in the UAE or GCC region before.
- Can read technical drawings, BOMs, and assembly/wiring specifications without help.
- Some understanding of electronics/sensor-based products (PCBs, wiring harnesses, impact sensors) is a strong plus given what we manufacture.
- Comfortable building a process from a blank page and holding it together with limited resources in the early stage.
- Fluent English; Arabic is a strong advantage for supplier and free-zone-authority liaison.
Good-to-have, not required
- Prior experience inside a UAE free zone (AFZA, JAFZA, DAFZA, etc.) for manufacturing or light-industrial setup — saves us time on the regulatory side.
- Background in sports equipment, fitness-tech or consumer electronics manufacturing.
- Experience working day-to-day with an overseas engineering/R&D team (comfortable collaborating across the Europe time zone).
Sourcing notes
- Good search terms: production engineer, manufacturing engineer, assembly line setup, industrial engineer, NPI (new product introduction) engineer.
- Candidates from electronics/hardware contract manufacturers (EMS companies) in the UAE are a strong pool — they tend to have exactly this line-setup and supplier-sourcing experience.
