Job Description:

The Facilities HSE Professional supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site health, safety, and environmental programs. This role ensures that facility operations, maintenance activities, and contractor works comply with local, state, and federal regulations (such as OSHA and EPA) while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Program Implementation:

• Maintain and implement facility safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, fall protection, and electrical safety
• Ensure compliance with National Facility Contractors building codes, fire life safety systems, and environmental permits
• Act as the primary site point of contact for external regulatory inspections or audits (OSHA, EPA, local fire marshals)
• Maintain accurate safety records, including OSHA 300/300A logs and safety data sheets

Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation:

• Conduct routine facility walk-throughs, safety inspections, and job safety analyses to identify unsafe physical, chemical, or electrical hazards
• Oversee safety-critical preventive maintenance programs and self-inspection corrective actions
• Partner with property insurers (such as FM Global) to track and close out property and casualty loss-prevention recommendations

Contractor & Project Safety:

• Administer contractor safety pre-qualification, orientation, and insurance verification for capital projects and on-site maintenance
• Review contractor safety plans and issue safety permits (hot work, work at height)
• Monitor vendor and contractor performance to ensure adherence to site safety guidelines

Incident Investigation & Emergency Response:

• Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations using root-cause analysis (RCA) techniques
• Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence
• Update and execute emergency response plans, conducting regular fire and evacuation drills

Training & Culture:

• Deliver or coordinate required safety training (e.g., CPR/AED, forklift safety, hazard communication) using internal learning systems
• Coach management, facilities staff, and workers on daily safety responsibilities and hazard observation

Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field

Experience:

• 2 to 5+ years of relevant HSE experience, specifically within a facilities management, warehouse, manufacturing, or corporate real estate environment

Certifications:

• Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or OSHA/NEBOSH credentials are preferred

Technical Skills:

• Strong working knowledge of federal/state regulations (OSHA, EPA)
• Familiarity with building mechanical systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection)
