Production Line Leader

About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Production Line Leader to lead our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and back-end assembly operations. The ideal candidate will be a people-oriented leader capable of managing a diverse workforce, in a high-mix electronics manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily production activities across SMT lines (printing, placement, reflow) and back-end processes (wave soldering, assembly, testing, packing) to meet output, yield, and cycle time targets.
• Coordinate with Process Engineers and other related department, to address machine downtime and quality excursions (e.g., solder defects, component misalignment).
• Ensure strict adherence to IPC-A-610 acceptability standards and internal Work Instructions (WI).
• Supervise a team of operators and senior operators.
• Manage shift handovers, attendance, and discipline fairly and transparently.
• Facilitate basic on-the-job training and cross-skilling initiatives for operators.
• Enforce strict adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022 requirements, including proper use of PPE and ergonomic practices.
• Proactively identify and mitigate line-level safety hazards (e.g., noise, chemical exposure in cleaning processes) and promote a zero-accident culture.
• Drive 5S and visual management on the line.
• Initiate basic root-cause analysis for line stoppages or minor quality rejections.

About you

• Diploma or Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Line Leader, Senior Operator, or Supervisor in an SMT/PCBA environment within Malaysia's E&E sector.
• Familiarity with IPC standards and ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 environments are highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of SMT equipment (e.g., pick-and-place, reflow ovens) and back-end processes.
• Basic understanding of E&E sector compliance regarding labor and OSH regulations in Malaysia.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a multilingual workforce (Bahasa Malaysia, English).
• Demonstrated ability to lead fairly, with a focus on dignity and respect.
