Production Line Manager

Position summary

The Production Manager runs Widezone's meat cutting line on the floor, every shift they are scheduled. You lead the crew working the bandsaw, slicer, and wrapper, and make sure every product is cut to spec, packed to the right weight, and produced safely.

Widezone is a USDA-inspected food manufacturer and wholesale distributor in Monroe, NC. We cut large pieces of meat into restaurant-ready portions for restaurants and supermarkets across the Southeast.

Key responsibilities

Run the line

• Be present on the production floor and oversee the bandsaw, slicer, and wrapper throughout each run
• Plan the day's production from orders and inventory on hand, and assign crew to each station
• Keep the line moving so orders are finished on time

Cut to spec

• Direct the team to cut every product to its required dimensions (thickness, size, portion weight) for each type of meat in stock
• Check cuts throughout the run and correct problems right away
• Train operators on cut specs for new products and customer-specific orders

Safety first

• Enforce safety rules on every machine: guards in place, cut-resistant gloves and PPE worn, lockout/tagout followed during cleaning and maintenance
• Make sure only trained, authorized staff operate the bandsaw and slicer
• Stop the line when something is unsafe; report and document any incident or near miss
• Hold short safety reminders with the crew and keep the room clean and organized

Weights & quality

• Make sure every finished box is weighed correctly and matches its labeled weight
• Check that scales are accurate and calibrated
• Confirm packaging, wrapping, and labels meet company standards before product leaves the room
• Hold back any product that is off-spec and decide whether it is reworked or rejected

Food safety & records

• Follow USDA requirements, sanitation procedures, and temperature controls
• Keep production records accurate: lot numbers, what was cut, quantities, and box weights
• Support USDA inspections and fix any issues the inspector raises
• Lead end-of-shift cleaning and sanitation of all equipment

Lead the team

• Supervise, coach, and cross-train production staff
• Track attendance and performance and report issues to management
• Report equipment problems and coordinate repairs and blade/part replacements

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years in meat cutting, meat processing, or food production
• 1+ year supervising or leading a production crew
• Hands-on experience with a bandsaw and meat slicer
• Strong knowledge of meat cuts and how to cut to specific dimensions
• Solid understanding of machine safety and food safety practices
• Comfortable using scales and keeping accurate written or digital records
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work early-morning shifts

Preferred

• Experience in a USDA-inspected plant
• HACCP or food safety certification
• Experience with wrapping/packaging equipment
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) Mandarin is a plus.

Physical demands & work environment

• Work in a cold production room (refrigerated temperatures) for most of the shift
• Stand and walk for long periods
• Lift and carry boxes up to 50 lbs
• Work around sharp blades and moving machinery while wearing required PPE
• No video or recording is allowed in the production room or warehouse

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
