The Projection Welding Machine Operator is responsible for operating projection welding equipment safely and efficiently to produce welded components that meet defined quality and production requirements. The role focuses on following standard processes, maintaining quality standards, and supporting Setters & Supervisors to ensure smooth daily production activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation

• Operate projection welding machines in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Load and unload components safely and correctly using approved methods.
• Achieve production targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Stop production and escalate issues when abnormal weld or machine conditions are identified.

Quality Assurance

• Maintain correct batch identification and traceability throughout production.
• Segregate non-conforming parts and report defects promptly.

Equipment & Area Care

• Carry out daily pre-use checks as instructed.
• Keep machines, tooling, and work area clean and tidy.
• Report machine faults, damage, or abnormalities immediately.
• Do not bypass guards, interlocks, or safety systems.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all health and safety rules, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
• Always use correct PPE.
• Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards within the welding area.
• Participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate issues clearly to setters and supervisors.
• Support smooth operations by sharing relevant information.
• Work cooperatively with team members to meet production objectives.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Ability to follow standard processes and work instructions accurately.
• Good attention to detail and quality awareness.
• Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
• Willingness to learn and follow training.

Desirable

• Experience operating production machines.
• Experience working in a high-variety low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Awareness of basic quality inspection techniques.

Pay: £12.71-£13.45 per hour
