Production Machining Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities

Shop Floor Leadership & Scheduling:

o Direct daily activities for CNC machinists and manual machine operators.

o Assign work order job packages based on machine availability and scheduling priorities.

o Lead start-of-shift briefings to review production goals, machine statuses, and tooling needs.

Machining Operations & Technical Oversight:

o Assist setup personnel with workholding, fixture alignment, and initial tool setting.

o Review G-code programs, CAD models, and engineering drawings prior to production run-offs.

o Monitor cutting feeds, speeds, and coolant levels to optimize material removal rates and extend tool life.

Precision Quality & Inspection Control:

o Verify first-article inspection results against 2d drawing tolerances and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.

o Utilize precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges) to verify part dimensions.

o Conduct root-cause analysis on out-of-spec parts to eliminate machining errors and reduce scrap.

Tooling & Equipment Maintenance Support:

o Track cutting tool inventory, insert wear, and tool holder conditions.

o Coordinate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) checks, chip removal, and machine lubrication routines.

o Report machine malfunctions or maintenance needs to management and technical support immediately.

Safety & Housekeeping

o Enforce machine guarding rules, chip handling safety, coolant management, and eye/ear protection rules.

o Maintain strict 5S organization around machines, workbenches, and tool racks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of Vocational/Technical Machine Tooling, Mechanical Technology, or related Engineering course.
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role .
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical drawings, GD&T, workholding techniques, and manual G-code/M-code adjustments.
• Experience operating multi-axis CNC mills, lathes CNC machines and or equipment.
• Proficient in basic MS Office applications for tracking production logs and job orders.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Highly responsible, quality-focused, and committed to floor safety standards
