Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead a large-scale production operation in Wiri. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this is a key leadership role responsible for delivering production performance across safety, quality, cost, service, and people leadership.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a proven production leader from thefood manufacturing/processing industry who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and has a passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams.

The Opportunity

As Production Manager, you will lead a sizeable workforce through a team of supervisors and frontline leaders, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and operational efficiency. You will play a critical role in driving performance, improving processes, and building a culture of accountability and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day production operation within a large manufacturing facility.
• Drive performance across safety, quality, productivity, cost, and service KPIs.
• Manage labour planning, budgets, resource allocation, and operational performance.
• Develop and implement production strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
• Lead, coach, and develop production leaders and frontline teams.
• Partner closely with Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Supply Chain functions.
• Utilise production data and reporting to identify trends and improve performance.
• Foster a strong safety-first culture and drive employee engagement across the site.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven Production Management experience within a food manufacturing environment, ideally meat processing.
• Strong leadership experience managing large production teams.
• Demonstrated success delivering operational KPIs and production targets.
• Experience managing budgets, labour costs, yield, waste, and productivity measures.
• Strong change management and continuous improvement capability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• A hands-on leadership style with a focus on developing people and driving results.
