About M’RHEN
M’RHEN is a New York– and Taipei–based luxury womenswear brand founded by Mina Chen, focused on refined femininity, emotional resonance, and intentional craftsmanship. Designed between New York and Taipei and produced entirely in New York City, the brand is known for its elevated tailoring, feminine silhouettes, and intimate approach to luxury.
The Role
We are looking for a technically strong, detail-obsessed Production Manager to own the end-to-end development and production flow of our collections.
Working directly alongside our Founder & Creative Director, Lead Designer, Executive Assistant, and NYC-based patternmakers and factories, this person will ensure that every style — from signature core pieces to new seasonal development — moves from design handoff through sampling and production to finished garment with precision, integrity, and on schedule.
This role combines production management, product development, and strong technical-design fluency. The ideal candidate understands garment construction and fit at a sophisticated level while also being an exceptional operator — capable of managing factories, patternmakers, production calendars, costing, quality control, and multiple concurrent development timelines.
This is a mid-to-senior level role suited for someone who can operate independently, communicate seamlessly across creative and production teams, anticipate problems before they arise, and bring both technical rigor and a genuine appreciation for luxury craftsmanship to every stage of the process.
We are open to full-time, part-time, or freelance arrangements depending on the candidate.
Responsibilities
Product Development & Technical Design
- Develop and maintain detailed tech packs for all styles — including new development and updated core styles — with construction details, measurements, materials, trims, and finish specifications.
- Create and manage fit comment sheets, graded spec sheets, and revision logs throughout all stages of development and sampling.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Designer and Founder to translate design intent into precise, manufacturable specifications.
- Maintain a master style library with up-to-date specifications, approved samples, and construction notes for all active and archive styles.
- Ensure technical and construction consistency across styles within each collection and season-to-season for signature core pieces.
Pattern Development & Sampling
- Work directly with NYC-based patternmakers to initiate, review, and refine patterns, communicating fit and construction direction clearly and efficiently.
- Manage the full sampling process from first patterns and prototypes through fit samples and pre-production samples to final approval.
- Lead and document fit sessions alongside the Founder and Lead Designer, providing clear and actionable fit comments to patternmakers and factories after each fitting.
- Oversee revisions across multiple rounds of sampling while maintaining accuracy, quality, and momentum across concurrent styles.
Production Management & Factory Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact with NYC factories for all production-related communication, from initial costing and capacity planning through final delivery.
- Issue production purchase orders, track cut tickets, and monitor production milestones against the seasonal calendar.
- Maintain clear visibility over production status across all active styles, identifying potential delays, quality concerns, or other risks early and resolving them proactively.
- Coordinate fabric, trim, and material deliveries to factories in alignment with development and production schedules.
- Conduct in-production quality checks and final garment inspections to ensure finished product meets M’RHEN's quality standards before delivery.
- Troubleshoot production and construction issues with factories and patternmakers while protecting design intent, quality, timeline, and cost.
- Work with the Executive Assistant on logistics coordination for sample and production movement throughout the NYC supply chain.
Collection & Calendar Management
- Own the production calendar for both annual collections, mapping key milestones from design handoff through development, production, and final delivery in alignment with wholesale, ecommerce, and editorial timelines.
- Manage new seasonal development alongside the ongoing update and production cycles of signature core styles.
- Establish clear internal deadlines for patterns, samples, fittings, material arrivals, production starts, quality control, and deliveries.
- Communicate proactively with the Founder and Lead Designer regarding development status, production priorities, timeline risks, and decisions requiring escalation.
- Support costing and margin analysis for each style in collaboration with the Founder and Executive Assistant.
Process & Systems
- Build and maintain production tracking systems covering style status, sample logs, factory schedules, costing sheets, approvals, and delivery timelines using tools such as Airtable, Notion, Monday.com, or Google Workspace.
- Develop and document SOPs for development, technical design, and production processes that can scale as the team and production volume grow.
- Maintain organized and accurate production records so that specifications, approvals, costing, and development history are easily accessible across seasons.
- Support and guide the intern on production-related administrative tasks, including sample organization, tracking updates, and documentation.
Who You Are
- 4–8 years of experience in apparel production, product development, and/or technical design, ideally within luxury or designer womenswear.
- Proven experience managing garments from development and sampling through bulk production and final delivery.
- Strong technical-design fluency, including garment construction, fit, specifications, grading, and patternmaking principles.
- Experience developing detailed tech packs and managing multi-round sampling and fit processes.
- Proven ability to work directly with patternmakers and production factories, particularly within a NYC manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production costing, lead times, factory workflows, materials, and garment quality standards.
- Experience managing multiple styles, vendors, and concurrent development and production timelines with precision.
- Familiarity with luxury or contemporary womenswear strongly preferred, particularly tailoring, structured silhouettes, draping, and refined fabrications.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable building process where little currently exists.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to identify and resolve production issues before they compromise quality or timeline.
- An excellent communicator who can move comfortably between creative direction and highly technical production conversations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical flat sketching; familiarity with Airtable, Notion, Monday.com, or similar production-management tools is a plus.
- Based in New York City with the ability to visit patternmakers, factories, and suppliers in person as needed.
