Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations. This vital role involves overseeing daily production activities, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing workflow efficiency. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about driving continuous improvement.

Duties

Production & Workflow Management

  • Manage and monitor the production schedule for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and identify potential delays before they affect deadlines.
  • Coordinate daily workflow between carpentry, CNC, metal, painting, graphics, electrical, finishing, and warehouse departments.
  • Review production calendars and prioritize work based on show dates and shipping deadlines.
  • Conduct regular production meetings and provide updates on project status.
  • Establish production timelines and communicate critical deadlines to internal teams.

Materials & Inventory

  • Review project requirements and ensure all necessary materials are ordered and available before production begins.
  • Monitor material inventory and identify shortages or potential purchasing issues.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Warehouse teams to prevent production delays caused by missing materials.
  • Verify that materials, hardware, graphics, lighting, furniture, and other components are available and properly allocated to each project.

Quality Control

  • Inspect completed work to ensure it matches approved drawings, renderings, specifications, and client expectations.
  • Establish quality-control checkpoints throughout the production process.
  • Identify fabrication issues, missing components, incorrect dimensions, finishing defects, or graphic problems before projects leave the facility.
  • Coordinate corrections and rework when necessary.

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, Designers, and Engineers to understand project requirements.
  • Review production drawings, CAD files, renderings, specifications, and installation requirements.
  • Communicate production challenges and recommend practical solutions.
  • Help develop more efficient fabrication and production methods.
  • Ensure changes or revisions are communicated to all departments affected.

Shipping, Installation & Show Support

  • Coordinate with Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure projects are properly packed, labeled, and ready for shipment.
  • Confirm that all components required for installation are accounted for before loading.
  • Coordinate with Installation & Dismantle teams when necessary.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production or installation issues before and during shows.
  • Help ensure projects meet advance warehouse, dock, delivery, and show-site deadlines.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate production personnel and department leads.
  • Assign manpower based on project priorities and production schedules.
  • Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve workflow.
  • Maintain clear communication between departments.
  • Help train employees on production procedures, safety, quality standards, and company expectations.

Process Improvement

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the production process.
  • Develop systems and procedures that improve production speed, organization, and quality.
  • Recommend equipment, tooling, materials, or workflow improvements.
  • Create and maintain production checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Track recurring production issues and develop solutions to prevent them from happening again.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in exhibit production, trade shows, events, millwork, fabrication, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of custom exhibit fabrication and production processes.
  • Experience working with production schedules and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings, shop drawings, renderings, and production specifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience managing production teams and coordinating multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of materials such as wood, metal, acrylic, laminates, fabric, graphics, lighting, and other exhibit materials is preferred.
