JOB VACANCY: PRODUCTION MANAGER

Lange & Grant Commodities Limited, a polyurethane (PU) foam and insulation manufacturing company is looking for an experienced, hands-on Production Manager, to run and scale our production floor.

Role Summary

The Production Manager will lead all manufacturing operations, from raw material handling and foam formulation through to finished product quality, output and cost control. You will take ownership of the plant's production targets, safety standards and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and manage daily production to meet output, quality and delivery targets
• Oversee PU foam production processes, including mixing, dosing, foaming, curing and cutting or panel forming
• Manage polyol, isocyanate (TDI/MDI) and additive ratios, reaction and gel times, temperature and pressure settings, and density control
• Troubleshoot foam defects and correct formulation or machine settings quickly
• Work with the maintenance team to keep machinery reliable and minimise downtime
• Drive quality control, including testing, batch records and product consistency
• Control material usage, wastage and production costs, and support raw material sourcing and optimisation
• Enforce HSE standards for handling chemicals, machinery and hazardous materials
• Recruit, train, supervise and appraise production staff, and build a disciplined, accountable team
• Coordinate with Sales and Projects to plan production around orders and delivery timelines
• Submit weekly production reports and KPI updates to management

Requirements

• B.Sc./B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 7–10 years' production experience in a PU foam or insulation manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role
• Hands-on experience with rigid PU/PIR foam, sandwich panels, or flexible PU foam production
• Working knowledge of PU chemistry: polyol/isocyanate systems, catalysts, silicones, blowing agents and formulation adjustments
• Experience with continuous or batch foaming machinery, including commissioning, calibration and process optimisation
• Strong grasp of quality control, lean manufacturing, cost control and production planning
• Registration with COREN and membership of a professional body (NSE, NSChE or equivalent) are an advantage
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices in chemical manufacturing
