Production Manager

This opportunity is with a long-established and highly regarded manufacturing business located in Northcote on the North Shore. The company is owned by a global entity which operates in over 50 countries around the world.

The New Zealand plant is of medium-size and operates a comprehensive JIT manufacturing system. Manufacturing standards are to the highest level

Reporting to the Factory Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for leading the production and inwards goods teams, ensuring safe, efficient manufacturing in accordance with international standards, whilst also managing procurement and materials availability.

Key areas of responsibility include….

Production and People

Lead Production and Inwards Goods to achieve agreed manufacturing requirements through effective coordination of people, materials and resources.

Lead, coach and develop employees, ensuring appropriate training, capability and skills coverage.

Maintain a practical and flexible approach, providing hands-on operational support where required.

Quality, Best Practice and Safety

Take ownership of manufacturing product quality.

Drive and support Sealy Best Practice, including 6S, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Provide strong Health and Safety leadership and ensure production risk assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and injury/incident processes are appropriately maintained and managed.

Factory Management

Monitor and improve production efficiency, productivity, waste and manufacturing processes.

Work collaboratively with the wider factory management team and contribute to factory improvement initiatives and projects.

Provide support across the factory where reasonably required to meet operational and business needs.

Procurement and Materials

Undertake local and international procurement to ensure material availability in support of production and inventory requirements.

Plan and place purchase orders, monitor supplier deliveries, and coordinate international freight and customs requirements.
