Production Operator

**Job Title:**Machine Operator

**Shift:**12 Hour Rotating Shift

**FLSA Status:**Non Exempt

SUMMARY

The Production Operator is responsible to safely operate and monitor machinery, ensure quality control, and maintain machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and make appropriate adjustments to ensure productivity and quality standards.
• Gather information regarding equipment, quality (etc.) with incoming and outgoing operation (change of shifts) entering information into log book. Perform set out on an hourly basis to review current quality levels (gages), weight, etc. and document information as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Identify quality problems, take set outs as scheduled.
• Complete visual management board and other related tasks.
• Maintain housekeeping and a safe work area. Communicate problem issues to the chief operator

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Knowledge of equipment, ability to work on moving equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality control checks.
• Good mechanical skills
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Good verbal communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
• Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in the glass industry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to work high temperatures
• Bending/crouching on a daily basis
• Able to lift or maneuver up to 75 lb. mold. Use ladder to reach high areas
• Able to work overtime, often on short notice
