Purpose of the function

To work as part of an efficient and effective team to support the manufacture of quality composite materials/products in order to meet customer and Company requirements. To ensure that correct, safe and secure working practices are adhered to at all times and the highest level of housekeeping standards are maintained

Description of the function

To produce finished products in accordance with procedures and in line with Customer Specifications, on time and in full.

Target zero accidents through correct, safe and secure working practices. Identifying and reporting all incidents.

Quality

Target zero non conformities in products manufactured through following PCD’s, Work Instructions etc.

Target 100% On Time in Full deliveries monitored by schedule adherence.

Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement by actively participating in projects and putting forward improvement ideas.

Key Tasks

§ To be competent in machine setting, with knowledge of how to set and adjust machine parameters in accordance with Process Control Documents (PCD’s), route cards, and all relevant process data (Work Instructions).

§ Ensure the correct and safe use of equipment, making sure that equipment is cared for and not abused.

§ To identify and report any machine faults that arise to ensure that downtime levels can be reduced inline with departmental targets. Production Operators should be able to demonstrate evidence of basic machine checks and subsequent reports on; changes in sound of revolving parts; rise in temperature of bearings; oil leaks, etc.

§ Observe and adhere to all Gurit Security regulations in place, and actively seek to understand and follow all company and department procedures in place specifically relating to attendance, holidays and sickness, etc.

§ Contribute toward the efficient running of the machines, and actively seek to understand all machine functions as directed by the Line Leader to improve production targets and own skills matrix

§ Understand and adhere to 5S’ within the workplace, and take responsibility for autonomous maintenance. Apply problem-solving techniques where appropriate within daily work activities.

§ To be compliant with all policies and regulations pertinent to Health and Safety at Work, taking ownership of H&S rules in relation to your own job role, wearing correct PPE at all times, observing and reporting any potential hazards. Stop any work that may endanger the safety of personnel or machinery. Know locking and unlocking procedures specific to job requirements.

§ Responsibility for the acceptance of correct raw materials, checking for defects and rejecting where necessary, and recording any actions on the appropriate documentation. Accurately record all materials used on the appropriate documentation and SAP ensuring that stock accuracy levels will improve.

§ Ensure quality standards are maintained in line with product specifications, taking samples of raw materials and finished goods to QC for inspection, and highlighting any defects to the Line Leader. The number of NCRs raised will be minimised in line with departmental targets

§ Develop an understanding of the relevance of QC tests and the effect of the product for each customer

§ Produce the product / material as per the details of the production order (Work Instruction/PCDs) striving to achieve the highest level of quality at all times

§ To demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and one’s own persoanl development, and an interest in the values and principles of Gurit.

Functional requirements

Work Experience

§ Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment (particularly with composite materials) advantageous but not essential.

High School Diploma / GED preferred, not required
