Production Operator

Position Summary JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Operator is responsible for operating the rendering/evaporator system within targets to produce fats and meals within the company specifications.

Duration of Contract: 8 Months

Position And Job Responsibilties

• Responsible for following all company and health and safety rules and for communicating all reportable incidents and submitting hazard reports.
• Responsible for continuously monitoring and making appropriate corrective adjustments as required to maintain the processes under control within the Key Process Indicators e.g. production rates, flow rates, levels, temperatures and steam heating, pressures, residence time, etc.
• Responsible to produce finished goods within company specifications.
• Responsible for maximizing process throughput and operating the equipment as intended without causing material plugs and spills, damage to equipment, causing a risk to health and safety, or negatively impacting the environment
• Responsible for reporting and recording all shift activities, events, reportable incidents, production information, maintenance issues, and other data as required (e.g. Shift Report/Log, production/process statistics, HACCP records)
• Responsible for communicating all relevant operational information at shift change directly or otherwise through logs and reports etc.
• Deal with ad hoc situations which may arise
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills And Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing or operations. Industrial or food manufacturing an asset.
• 2 years’ experience with heavy equipment in a continuous manufacturing process environment
• Maintain safe working practices and good housekeeping.
• Physically able to perform the demands of the job.
• Follow established operating practices and standard operating procedures.
• Capable of understanding basic physical principles related to flow, steam pressure, temperature and heating, and linear and rotational mechanical forces.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise and make informed decisions.
• Motivated, well organized, strong attention to detail and able to communicate effectively.
• Flexible to work shifts as required.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to Darling’s company values.

• $28.55 per hour plus overtime after 40 hours
