Production Planner

About the role

VIRTUE TECHNOLOGY SDN BHD is seeking a Production Planner to join our manufacturing operations team in Simpang Ampat, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in optimising our production processes and ensuring efficient resource allocation across our manufacturing facility. As Production Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels, and liaising between various departments to meet customer demand whilst maintaining operational excellence. This role is essential to our strategic objectives, ensuring that we deliver products on time whilst minimising costs and waste.

Key responsibilities

• Able to plan and schedule daily production
• Monitor machine loading and job priorities
• Follow delivery schedules and customer deadlines.
• Able to read production drawing and job orders
• Develop and maintain accurate production schedules based on customer demand forecasts, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to respond to changes in demand or operational constraints
• Coordinate with procurement, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to ensure materials and resources are available when needed
• Analyse production data and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies to recommend process improvements
• Manage bill of materials and ensure accurate inventory records are maintained in the planning system
• Prepare production reports and forecasts for senior management and stakeholders
• Communicate with sales and customer service teams to manage expectations and provide realistic delivery timelines
• Optimise production runs to balance efficiency with resource utilisation and customer requirements
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to achieving production targets and key performance indicators

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related discipline

• Minimum 2 years' experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related role within a manufacturing environment

• Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and production planning software

• Strong knowledge of demand forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory management principles

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with data and identify trends

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams

• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant planning tools

• Basic understanding of CNC machining process

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is preferred

• Experience in the electronics or precision manufacturing sector is advantageous
