Production Planner

Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring production activities to ensure customer requirements are met on time while optimizing manpower, machine capacity, materials, and inventory. The role coordinates closely with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, and Sales/Customer Service teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans and schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, and production capacity.
• Review customer requirements and translate them into feasible production schedules.
• Monitor production progress against planned schedules and immediately identify delays or potential bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with Production to ensure timely completion of production orders.
• Check availability of raw materials, packaging materials, components, and other production requirements.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Warehouse regarding material availability and shortages.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient materials are available to support production.
• Create and maintain production orders, work orders, and planning schedules in the ERP/MRP system.
• Analyze machine capacity, manpower requirements, production lead times, and available resources.
• Reschedule production activities when there are material shortages, machine breakdowns, urgent orders, or changes in customer requirements.
• Coordinate with Logistics/Warehouse to ensure finished goods are available according to delivery schedules.
• Monitor production performance, output, downtime, and order fulfillment.
• Prepare production planning reports and communicate schedule changes to relevant departments.
• Identify production constraints and recommend solutions to improve productivity and delivery performance.
• Maintain accurate planning data, production records, and master schedules.
• Support inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects related to production planning and supply chain operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in production planning, material planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
• Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience may also be considered for junior roles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and basic data analysis.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems is an advantage.
• Good understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Able to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Willing to work in a manufacturing/production environment.
