Supporting customers in various sectors from Marine, Defence, AgriTech to a core business around Motorsport & Automotive, supplying multiple high level racing series and high specification automotive style projects.

Based in Newport, Shropshire, HCI Systems Limited have grown rapidly in recent years to become leaders in vehicle electrical systems and wiring harnesses. The company has an enviable reputation based on high quality wiring harness design and manufacture for low voltage and electric vehicles as well as providing complimentary technologies such as power management systems, switch panels and bespoke electronics systems working to customer specifications.

Our world-class team has over 30 years of experience designing and manufacturing wiring looms.

Background to the Role

Due to the continued success of the business both in established and new marketplaces, HCI Systems are looking to recruit a dynamic Production Planner to join our team. As Production Planner, you will play a key role in coordinating production activity, ensuring materials and resources are available, and keeping production schedules on track.

Working closely with production, purchasing, stores and management, you will help turn customer requirements and orders into clear, achievable production plans. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy manufacturing environment, is highly organised and takes pride in getting the details right.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule production in line with customer requirements and agreed delivery dates.
  • Create and maintain production schedules and manufacturing orders using bespoke software.
  • Monitor production progress and update schedules where priorities change.
  • Liaise with production teams to ensure work is completed on time.
  • Check material availability and work closely with purchasing and stores to identify potential shortages.
  • Coordinate priorities across multiple customer orders and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records, spreadsheets and planning information.
  • Communicate delivery dates and any changes to customers.
  • Identify potential production delays and proactively escalate issues.
  • Assist with general administration and reporting associated with production.
  • Support continuous improvement of planning, processes and administrative systems.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have experience in production planning, manufacturing administration, scheduling, or a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment. You will be highly organised with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while working effectively to deadlines. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential.

You will be a confident communicator, both written and verbal, and comfortable liaising with customers as well as colleagues across different departments. We are looking for someone with a practical, problem-solving approach who can work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a team.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite is essential. As well as previous experience using an ERP/MRP system, preferably MRPeasy.

Experience within electrical manufacturing, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, or a similar industry would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

We value individual differences and diversity amongst all staff so that everyone has the widest opportunities to maximise their potential.
