Production Planning & Inventory Control Manager

About the Job

Westlake Royal Building Products is seeking a Production Planning & Inventory Control Manager to lead production planning, production scheduling, inventory management and control, and Product Data Management activities for the Columbus and Franklin manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for developing realistic production plans, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting customer-service requirements, and ensuring product and manufacturing data are maintained accurately.

The position supervises production schedulers, inventory clerks, cycle-counting personnel, and other assigned planning or inventory-control employees. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role that works closely with Operations, Customer Service, Logistics, Accounting, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain executable production plans and schedules that balance customer demand, inventory requirements, material availability, labor and equipment capacity, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Adjust production plans and schedules as demand, capacity, material availability, inventory position, and customer priorities change.
  • Own inventory accuracy for raw materials, finished goods, packaging materials, consignment inventory, and obsolete, excess, or slow-moving inventory.
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, reconciliations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Lead month-end and year-end inventory activities in partnership with Operations, Accounting, and Supply Chain.
  • Establish finished-goods inventory targets that support service-level requirements while limiting excess inventory.
  • Monitor schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, product availability, and customer-service performance; identify gaps and lead corrective actions.
  • Maintain Bills of Material, manufacturing routings, item-master data, branch-plant setup, inventory parameters, and related product records in JD Edwards.
  • Support new-item creation, new-product introductions, engineering changes, and product revisions.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop planning and inventory-control employees.
  • Improve planning, scheduling, inventory, master-data, and system processes through data analysis, standard work, and cross-functional problem-solving.

What We're Looking For

  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in production planning or scheduling and inventory management or inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience developing manufacturing production plans or schedules and adjusting them based on demand, capacity, materials, and operational constraints.
  • Hands-on manufacturing inventory experience, including cycle counting, physical inventory, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Strong knowledge of production-planning principles, inventory-management methods, material flow, Bills of Material, routings, item-master data, and manufacturing transactions.
  • Proven leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and developing employees in manufacturing planning, scheduling, or inventory-control functions.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or an equivalent supply-chain certification.
  • Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, DSI inventory systems, and manufacturing reporting or analytics tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and DSI systems
  • Experience with reporting and data analytics tools
