Production Planning Officer

About the role

Responsible for planning and coordinating production activities and material requirements to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations, optimal inventory levels, and achievement of customer service targets.

Key responsibilities

Production Planning

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and production capacity.
• Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, and Sales teams to ensure smooth execution of production schedules.
• Monitor production performance and adjust plans to address changes in demand, resource availability, or operational constraints.
• Analyze capacity utilization and recommend actions to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Track production KPIs and prepare planning reports for management review.

Material Planning

• Plan and manage raw material, packaging material, and indirect material requirements to support production needs.
• Generate and maintain material requirement plans (MRP) based on production schedules and inventory targets.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient stock availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Manage material master data and planning parameters within MRP systems.

Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

• Monitor inventory accuracy and collaborate with warehouse / production teams on stock control activities.
• Support monthly inventory reviews and slow-moving/obsolete stock reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company inventory policies and procedures.
• Participate in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and forecast review processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within planning and inventory management activities.
• Monitor and communicate production discrepancies and related reports on a daily basis.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Minimum Diploma qualification with relevant working experience preferably in Logistics/Supply Chain, manufacturing or equivalent
• At least 2 years of working experience in planning/manufacturing industry
• Able to converse in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, spoken and written
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
• Experience in SAP System
• Possess team work environment attitude and able to carry out task with minimal supervision
