Are you a passionate engineer that likes improving processes, keeping production flowing, and preventing non-conforming parts? We are seeking a quality engineer to be Oxide’s onsite presence as a Production Quality Engineer. You’ll work directly with our contract manufacturer (CM) quality and production engineering teams, leading the front line defense of Oxide products!
While Oxide is a remote-friendly company, we’ve found that being physically present during manufacturing is essential to building a great product and strong relationships. This role requires regular on-site presence at our contract manufacturer (CM) in Rochester and Winona, Minnesota (up to 5 days per week). Relocation package is available.
As a Quality Manager, you will:
- Prioritize communicating “early and often” as the Oxide onsite quality presence and point of contact for production quality issues

- Work with incoming material suppliers to prevent recurrence of material non-conformances
- Provide clarity and advocate for Oxide’s expectations of quality attributes and requirements
- Support production application testing for part qualifications
- Work closely with our contract manufacturer’s manufacturing teams to understand manufacturing processes, identify risks, and take preventative actions

- Execute resolution of 8D corrective actions for customer escapes tied to CM production processes
- Recommend hardware and equipment needed to support onsite quality needs
- Perform periodic line walks, collect feedback from CM production employees, and advocate for continuous improvement
- Review and propose improvement of contract manufacturer’s production and incoming inspection plans
- Work with Oxide and CM Quality functions to rectify underperforming first pass yields and identify root cause
- Work closely with manufacturing and test teams to develop, maintain, and sustain processes and procedural documentation
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Have deep experience supporting various commodities, including mechanical rack weldments, cables, PCBAs manufacturing, and other electronics relevant to server hardware (e.g. SSDs, DRAM, CPUs)
- Have experience using traditional inspection methods (calipers, multimeters) and seek out ways to integrate more advanced inspection tools (CMM, VMM)
- Can navigate mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes and tools to present solutions to our engineering teams
- Are a strong verbal and written communicator. You will be an onsite representative for Oxide and you will be expected to provide concise and respectful communications across multiple levels and functions of our contract manufacturer.
- Mastered tools and processes related to product quality and supplier quality
- Have experience working with contract manufacturers in the electronics industry focused on highly complex printed circuit board fabrication and assembly
- Enjoy digging into technical data (schematics, datasheets, drawings) to provide recommendations to engineering teams to address quality issues
- Are able to balance cost, quality, and time as the situation dictates, adjusting priorities based on risk while driving for all material to meet customer expectations.
- Have held of positions throughout design engineering, manufacturing, and quality
- Have lived as a Manufacturing Engineer. We’re looking for someone that has a technical eye for developing processes and procedures and their career has evolved into holding suppliers to account in a quality role.
