Production Specialist (Slitter Setup Technician / Coil Processing)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented employee to join our team at Lichtgitter USA, a global leader in bar grating solutions. The position requires building arbor setups and supporting our steel coil processing operation. The successful candidate will have strong math skills, steel handling experience, a positive attitude, and a desire to work in a team setting. Our crew works closely together, and success depends on teamwork, communication, and accountability all while keeping safety as a high priority.

Primary Responsibilities

· Build slitter arbor setups using knives, spacers, and stripper rings according to setup sheets.

· Verify setup dimensions, slit widths, and knife clearances before production.

· Read work orders, setup sheets, customer specifications, and production paperwork.

· Use micrometers and calipers to verify material thickness, tooling dimensions, and finished widths.

· Inspect material and slit edges for quality concerns; communicate problems promptly.

· Handle steel coils, tooling, and finished material using overhead cranes and approved lifting equipment.

· Assist with machine operation, threading, banding, packaging, and material identification.

· Coordinate with operators and material handlers to keep production moving safely.

· Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow 6S practices.

· Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.

Required Qualifications

· Experience in steel manufacturing, coil processing, slitting, or a related metal processing operation.

· Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, and accurate measurements.

· Ability to read micrometers and calipers accurately.

· Material handling and overhead crane experience.

· Ability to follow written instructions and complete production records accurately.

· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under production pressure.

· Dependability, reliability, accountability, and integrity.

· Positive attitude, respectful communication, and willingness to help the entire crew.

· Flexibility to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.

· Ability to lift and handle up to 50 (fifty) pounds safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Experience

· Slitter arbor setup and tooling experience.

· Knowledge of slit-edge quality, burr, width tolerances, and material defects.

· Steel coil banding, packaging, and identification.

· Forklift operation.
