Production Supervisor

Role & responsibilities

Production & Scheduling

• Achieve daily and weekly production targets while maintaining required quality

• Execute jobs as per the approved production plan and priorities; make sure urgent jobs get attention first

• Track job progress through the shift, find delays (material, machine, manpower, quality) and help recover the schedule

Manpower & Team Management

• Allocate operators, welders and fitters according to skill and workload; keep idle time low

• Coordinate attendance, shift allocation and replacements; flag manpower shortages early

• Maintain work discipline, give clear instructions and handle routine employee issues professionally

Quality & Rejection Control

• Make sure all work follows drawings, specifications, process requirements and instructions

• Monitor defects, rejection and rework; stop or segregate non-conforming work and inform Quality

• Put corrective actions in place and prevent the same problem from repeating

Machine & Process Discipline

• Make sure operators follow approved processes, machine settings, tools, fixtures and work instructions - Monitor machine utilisation, reduce unnecessary downtime and report breakdown risks promptly

• Keep tools and fixtures available and in usable condition

Safety & 5S

• Enforce PPE, machine safety and safe working practices

• Maintain shop floor housekeeping and 5S discipline; store materials, tools and WIP safely

Problem Solving & Reporting

• Find production, quality, machine and material problems early and act within your authority

• Escalate technical, maintenance or quality issues and follow up until they are resolved

• Prepare accurate shift/daily production reports covering output, rejection, rework, downtime and job status

• Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Stores and Management
