Production Supervisor

About the role

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily production activities to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to established quality standards.

1. Production Planning & Execution

• l Supervise daily production activities according to approved production plans and schedules.
• l Allocate manpower, machines, materials, and workstations to meet production requirements.
• l Monitor production progress and ensure production targets and delivery schedules are achieved.
• l Identify production bottlenecks, delays, and resource constraints and take corrective action.
• l Coordinate with Planning/Warehouse to ensure required materials are available for production.
• l Ensure production records and output quantities are accurately recorded.

2. Production Quality & Process Control

• l Ensure production activities comply with approved work instructions, specifications, and quality standards.
• l Monitor production quality and coordinate with the Quality team to address defects and non-conformities.
• l Investigate production-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• l Minimize production rejects, rework, waste, and material losses.
• l Ensure proper handling and identification of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

3. Team Supervision & Development

• l Supervise, allocate, and monitor production operators and other production personnel.
• l Prepare manpower schedules and coordinate shift arrangements where applicable.
• l Monitor attendance, productivity, discipline, and work performance.
• l Train employees on production procedures, work instructions, equipment operation, and safety requirements.
• l Coach employees and promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• l Identify manpower and training requirements and report them to management.

4. Safety & Compliance

• l Ensure all production activities comply with company safety procedures and applicable requirements.
• l Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.
• l Ensure employees use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
• l Monitor machine and equipment safety and report defects or unsafe conditions.
• l Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and production safety risks promptly.
• l Ensure compliance with company SOPs, work instructions, and production controls.

5. Production Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• l Prepare daily and periodic production reports covering output, productivity, downtime, quality, waste, and manpower.
• l Monitor key production performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
• l Analyze production variances and investigate root causes of operational problems.
• l Work with Maintenance to minimize machine downtime and improve equipment availability.
• l Recommend improvements to production processes, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• l Support lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives where applicable

Qualifications

• l Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
• l Technical or vocational qualifications with substantial relevant production experience may also be considered.
• l Training or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, occupational safety, or production management is an advantage.
• l Minimum 3–5 years of relevant manufacturing or production experience.
• l At least 1–2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred.
• l Hands-on experience in production operations, manpower planning, quality control, and production scheduling.
• l Experience monitoring production KPIs such as output, productivity, downtime, rejection rate, and production efficiency.
• l Experience with manufacturing systems, ERP/MES, or production reporting systems is an advantage.
• l Experience in the company's industry or similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• l Able to communicate in both English, Malay and Chinese.
