Production Supervisor

Our client is seeking a Production Shift Leader in their Cheektowaga location.

Ensure manufacturing operations run smoothly by keeping a close eye on machine performance, performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting technical problems, and actively working on process improvements. This role ensures production targets, quality standards and safety protocols are met while promoting a positive team environment and a continuous improvement culture. This position is a primary point of contact between front-line production staff and management, ensuring effective communication, workflow, and resource management throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

1. Injection Process Operation

• Monitor daily process parameters on the injection machines
• Optimize cycle time while ensuring conforming product
• Establish optimum baseline process and calculated alarm parameters
• Responsible for advanced process analyses
• Lead or participate in mold and product design/drawing reviews when required
• Liaise with outside suppliers and machine manufacturers to develop process improvements
• Participate in tooling buy offs
• Operate injection molding machines, vision systems, down-stream equipment, and material feed equipment
• Assist with the start-up of new equipment by developing process parameters and implementing operator training plans
• Monitor critical process parameters on the injection machines, vision systems, color feeders, color blenders and secondary systems to include scheduled process and equipment audits
• Lead role in advanced process analysis: identifying process improvements that result in cost savings, improved part quality, and improvement of related KPI’s
• Conduct process related training for operators
• Participating in sample requests issued, and process related activities focused on identifying root causes

1. Production

• Monitor shift out putto ensure schedule and delivery target attainment
• Issue repair and other required work orders, ensuring timely follow-up
• Partner with planning and maintenance to ensure that scheduled or emergency maintenance on equipment is achieved as quickly as possible
• Respond to incidents and implement preventative measures
• Enforce 5S standards across the plant floor to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
• Ensure that any Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) members are afforded adequate time to meet their committee responsibilities
• Monitor shift quality to ensure closures meet standards and respond to identified quality issues on a timely basis

1. Personnel Supervision

• Handle all employee data with the upmost confidentiality and discretion
• Manage time off requests and flag any staffing gaps with HR and Production Team Leader
• Ensure employees, temporary personnel and visitors on the plant floor are compliant with GMP and safety policies and procedures
• Plan, document and carry out sufficient cross training to provide adequate backup of all job functions in partnership with the Production Team Leader and HR
• Ensure all employees sign in and out using On-Location System(WOL)
• Facilitate onboarding for new hire sand temporary personnel, ensuring proper documentation
• Track employee attendance and ensure any such issues are identified in accordance with the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Ensure all policies and procedures are followed
• Arrange shift coverage for Production personnel when necessary
• Review and approve time-off requests and payroll timesheets with accuracy and within prescribed deadlines
• Motivate production personnel to work as a team, both within production as well as other departments
• Work with employees to further develop their skills and identify future areas of career interest
• Participate in the management of employee performance through regular feedback, coaching and annual performance reviews
• Partner with HR and the Plant Manager with respect to potential disciplinary actions
• Document and deliver any disciplinary actions
• Conduct a shift huddle prior to shift start emphasize on safety concerns, production targets, any major changes, coordinate workflow and assign tasks to team members

1. Other

• Conduct evacuation drills as required
• Attend communication and production meetings
• Champion and participate in the See It, Sort It, Report It program
• Ensure all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well as all other Company policies and procedures are followed
• Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, and environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
• Ensure all work is conducted safely and without injury.

3.0 Education

• Degree or technical certification preferred
• Related production/leadership coursesand seminars an asset

5.0 Experience

• 5-7 years’ experience with injection mold machines
