Production Supervisor

1. Job Purpose

To supervise and manage day-to-day fabrication line operations, ensuring production targets, product quality, workplace safety, manpower utilization, and on-time delivery are achieved as per the production plan.

2. Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Supervise daily fabrication line activities to achieve planned production targets.
• Monitor sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, punching, shearing, bending, welding, and assembly, as applicable.
• Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, tools, and materials.
• Coordinate with planning, quality, maintenance, stores, and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
• Monitor production output, machine downtime, rejection, rework, and process bottlenecks.
• Ensure proper shift handover and continuity of production between day and night shifts.

Quality Control

• Ensure components are manufactured as per approved drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Monitor in-process quality and coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve defects.
• Minimize rejection, rework, and material wastage.
• Ensure operators follow standard operating procedures and quality requirements.

Manpower Management

• Allocate work to operators and helpers based on production requirements and skill levels.
• Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and performance of production personnel.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to operators.
• Ensure effective manpower deployment across fabrication lines during both shifts.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure compliance with PPE requirements, machine safety, and established EHS procedures.
• Maintain 5S, housekeeping, and cleanliness across fabrication work areas.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, accidents, and equipment abnormalities.
• Ensure safe handling of sheet metal, tools, and fabricated components.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain shift-wise production reports, downtime records, rejection reports, and manpower details.
• Track daily production performance against targets and report deviations to the reporting manager.
• Ensure proper material traceability and adherence to production documentation requirements.

3. Educational Qualification

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.

4. Experience

• Relevant experience in production supervision within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication will be an added advantage.
• Candidates with exposure to cutting, punching, shearing, bending, welding, and fabrication assembly processes will be preferred.

5. Required Skills & Competencies

• Good knowledge of fabrication processes and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to manage production teams and achieve shift-wise targets.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings and measurement instruments.
• Knowledge of quality standards, rejection control, and productivity improvement.
• Good communication, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage rotational day and night shifts.
